At The Laboratory Spa & Health Club, our members expect exceptional standards, from the moment they walk through our doors. As a Lifeguard, you will play a vital role in creating a safe, welcoming and enjoyable environment across our pool and leisure facilities.

You will be responsible for the safety and wellbeing of our members and guests, maintaining constant vigilance around the pool and responding confidently and professionally to any situation that may arise.

Alongside your lifeguarding responsibilities, you will help maintain the high standards of cleanliness, presentation and customer service that are central to the Laboratory experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain continuous supervision of the swimming pool and surrounding leisure areas.
• Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all members, guests and colleagues using the facilities.
• Respond quickly and appropriately to emergencies, accidents and incidents.
• Carry out regular poolside safety and equipment checks in line with company procedures.
• Perform rescues and provide first aid when required.
• Ensure pool rules, health and safety procedures and operating standards are consistently followed.
• Maintain excellent standards of cleanliness and presentation throughout the poolside and leisure areas.
• Carry out water-quality and facility checks and report any concerns promptly.
• Provide a friendly, professional and attentive service to members and guests.
• Build positive relationships with members and contribute to an exceptional overall club experience.
• Assist with opening and closing procedures and other operational duties as required.
• Work closely with the wider Health Club team to maintain a safe, professional and welcoming environment.
• Attend all required training and maintain relevant professional qualifications.

About You

We are looking for a confident, responsible and customer-focused Lifeguard who takes pride in maintaining exceptional standards.

You will have excellent observation skills and the ability to remain calm and focused in challenging situations. You will be proactive in identifying potential risks and confident in responding to emergencies when required.

Essential Requirements

• A current and valid National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) — essential.
• Current first-aid certification as required for the role.
• Excellent observation and concentration skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• A professional, approachable and confident manner.
• The ability to remain calm and make sound decisions under pressure.
• A strong understanding of pool safety and health and safety procedures.
• A proactive approach to cleanliness, presentation and member service.
• The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends and public holidays where required.
