Job description
About the Role

We are seeking a Civilian Investigator to join Lincolnshire Police's Economic Crime Unit. Fraud accounts for over 40% of all crime in the UK and has a significant impact on victims and communities. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a specialist team investigating volume fraud offences, managing cases from initial report through to prosecution and court outcomes.

As a designated powers role under the Police Reform Act 2002, you will play a hands-on operational role, using specialist investigative skills to identify offenders, secure evidence, and bring criminals to justice.

What You'll Be Doing

You will manage a diverse caseload of fraud investigations, taking responsibility as Officer in the Case and progressing enquiries from start to finish. Key responsibilities include:

Investigating fraud offences using appropriate legislation, investigative techniques, and force policies.
Planning and executing arrests, searches, and evidence recovery operations alongside police officers.
Conducting interviews under caution and managing custody, bail, and post-arrest processes.
Analysing financial records, banking information, and digital evidence to trace criminal activity and stolen funds.
Building strong relationships with victims and witnesses, providing support throughout the investigative and court process.
Working closely with banks, national agencies, regional partners, and other stakeholders to develop intelligence and gather evidence.
Preparing comprehensive case files for the CPS and presenting evidence in court when required.
Why This Role Matters

This role sits at the forefront of tackling an increasingly sophisticated and harmful crime type. Your work will directly disrupt fraudsters, organised crime groups, and those who exploit vulnerable people for financial gain.

By combining investigative expertise with operational activity, you will help protect communities, support victims, recover evidence, and secure successful prosecutions, making a tangible difference across Lincolnshire.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for a motivated and resilient investigator who can balance analytical thinking with operational activity. The successful candidate will have:

Strong investigative, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
The ability to analyse complex financial and digital information.
Excellent communication skills, particularly when dealing with victims, witnesses, and suspects.
Experience of managing investigations and preparing evidence for prosecution.
The confidence to work collaboratively with a range of internal and external partners.
A commitment to maintaining the highest professional standards and upholding the Code of Ethics.

If you're passionate about combating economic crime and protecting the public from fraud, we'd love to hear from you.

For full details of the role, responsibilities, and essential criteria, please review the Job Description and Person Specification before submitting your application.
