Full job description

About Origin City

Origin City is a British fine dining restaurant in West Smithfield, built around a clear pasture-to-plate and nose-to-tail ethos. We showcase organic, pasture-raised heritage breed meats from our family farm in Argyll, seafood from Loch Fyne, and wines from our family vineyard in Provence.

Origin City’s ethos is “Great Taste. No Waste.”

We offer an authentic guest experience that combines British fine dining, Scottish heritage and Provençal influence.

About the Role

We are looking for a full-time Bartender to join our Front of House team at Origin City.

This is a guest-facing beverage service role for someone who takes pride in accurate drink preparation, warm service, bar organisation and responsible alcohol service. You will support the full guest experience by preparing and serving drinks to a high standard, including wine, spirits, cocktails, soft drinks, coffee and tea.

We invest in an extensive training programme for our team members, including service standards, drinks knowledge, wine, allergens, product knowledge and the story behind our restaurant. For this reason, we are looking for someone who can commit to a full-time position and develop with the team over time.

About You

  • You are someone who genuinely loves hospitality and wants to grow within the industry. You take pride in preparing drinks properly, looking after guests, keeping the bar organised and staying calm and professional during busy service.
  • You have experience in a bar, restaurant or guest-facing hospitality role and understand the importance of timing, communication, teamwork, cleanliness and presentation.
  • You have a strong interest in wine, spirits, cocktails, coffee, drinks service and guest experience, or a clear willingness to develop this knowledge through training. You are confident speaking with guests and colleagues, following standards carefully and asking questions when information is unclear.

Pay and Benefits

  • £13 per hour, plus service charge. Typical total earnings are approximately £15 to £16 per hour, depending on service charge levels.
  • Extensive training and continuous personal development, including service standards, drinks knowledge, wine training, allergen awareness, product knowledge and the Origin City ethos. We support team members with WSET wine training and management development courses to help them grow within the hospitality industry.
  • Opportunity to develop within a distinctive restaurant with a strong focus on provenance, quality ingredients, guest experience and professional service.
  • Access to the Wisdom Employee Assistance Programme (EAP), offering confidential support and guidance for wellbeing, mental health, financial advice and personal matters.

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

Origin City is an inclusive company and this position is open to everyone who meets the requirements of the role.

We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and are committed to providing a fair, respectful and inclusive recruitment process. We value professionalism, kindness, teamwork, curiosity and a genuine interest in hospitality.

Right to Work in the UK

Applicants must already have the legal right to work in the UK. A right to work check will be completed before employment starts.

Please note that this role is open to candidates who are currently based in the UK and able to provide valid evidence of their right to work, such as British or Irish citizenship, settled or pre-settled status, or a valid visa allowing them to work in the UK.

Unfortunately, we are unable to offer visa sponsorship for this role.
