Locum Consultant in Medical Oncology with sub-speciality expertise in Gynaecological & Breast Cancers
This is a 10PA locum appointment for a consultant medical oncologist with special interests in gynaecological and breast cancers. This post will be available from September for a period of 12 months while plans for recruitment to a substantive post are worked through.
This post will deliver approximately 8 PAs supporting the Gynaecology team working alongside Dr David Jackson and Dr Alison Young; the Breast team working alongside David Jackson, Professor Chris Twelves, Professor Galina Velikova, Dr Emma Thomas, Dr Andrew Viggars, Dr Kallol Bhadra, Dr Richard Heywood, and Dr Hira Yousuf; and Speciality Doctors Dr Indu Chaudhuri and Dr Keren O’Connor. The remaining PAs will cover SPA and on-call activities. There will be opportunities to contribute to MDT and departmental meetings. The post-holder will support a 1:14 on-call rota.
The post will be based at St James'University Hospital
The successful applicant should hold accreditation in medical oncology in the Royal College of Physicians or equivalent and should be on the specialist register or within six months of being admitted to the register for trainees if currently in a training programme within the UK or have references which have been authorised by the deputy medical director and clinical director.
Applicants should have established skills in medical oncology. Excellent communication and teamwork skills and a strong commitment to teaching and service development are essential.

Job Summary
This is a 12-month medical oncology locum consultant post with a special interest in gynaecological & breast cancers, delivering systemic anti-cancer therapies. The post will support established and experienced medical oncology, gynaecology & breast cancer teams and will be based at the Leeds Cancer Centre, St James’s University Hospital.
There will be opportunities to contribute to the MDT and departmental meetings, as well as teaching and service developments. This is an exciting time to join our gynaecology & breast cancer services, as we are currently looking at pathway redesign alongside developing the service and the wider team.

Delivery of Gynaecology & Breast cancer out-patient clinics
Attendance at MDT meetings
Participate in Gynaecology ward rounds and the on-call rota
Prescription of systemic and hormone therapy for patients receiving treatment for Gynaecological & Breast cancers
Discussion with patients and their relatives
Attendance at service and departmental meetings
Work closely with clinical colleagues and support the wider Gynaecology & Breast cancer teams with clinical activity
Provide mutual cross-cover for colleagues where necessary
