Locum Specialty Registrar – General Medicine
Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital, Margate | £75 per hour
We’re urgently recruiting a Locum Specialty Registrar (SPR) in General Medicine to provide temporary, ad hoc night shift cover at East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust. This role offers immediate impact within a busy acute medicine service, supporting essential out-of-hours patient care and senior clinical decision-making.
You’ll join a supportive, forward-thinking team focused on delivering high-quality patient care. Doctors will be required to undertake a minimum period of supernumerary or rostered day shifts within the service to demonstrate and maintain clinical competence prior to undertaking night SPR duties.
Job Type
- Temporary locum
- Full‑time, weekday & weekend cover
- Night cover, varying Monday to Sunday, 20:00PM–08:30AM
Key Responsibilities
- Provide senior clinical decision making and leadership for acutely unwell general medical patients out of hours
- Support safe, timely assessment and management of patients during night shifts
- Work alongside another SPR, allowing shared workload
- Maintain awareness of local policies, pathways, escalation processes, and on-call expectations
- Demonstrate ongoing competence to work independently at Specialty Registrar level during overnight hours
Working Hours & Pay
- Night shifts across all days of the week, 20:00–08:30
- £75 per hour ( Approx.)
Essential Requirements
- Full GMC registration with a licence to practise
- Right to work in the UK
- Appropriate specialty training level (ST3–ST8 or equivalent)
- Evidence of competency in managing acutely unwell patients
- ALS (or equivalent) certification
- Understanding of NHS clinical governance and patient safety
