The Simply Construction Group is a leading design and build extension, loft and basement conversion specialist founded and managed by husband and wife team Robert and Helen Wood. It is comprised of three separate brands - Simply Extend which specialises in kitchen extensions; Simply Loft for loft conversions and more recently added to the group Simply Basement for basement conversions and Simply Architects. Being a family run business, Robert and Helen offer a personal touch and understanding of how many London families and couples want to expand their homes.

The journey began in 2008 when Robert left his full-time career in project management of railway and underground construction in London to set up the Simply Extend and Simply Loft firms. It started with a vision of creating a domestic building company that would focus on delivering home improvement in a simple and clearly structured way with a strong focus on customer care. Fixed prices, all in one design and build packages as well as project management and client-based systems for tracking progress are all central to the way things are run at Simply Construction Group.

The group has expanded over the years and now runs anywhere up to 200+ projects across London and the West Midlands in a year. Although operating in London, Helen and Robert manage and work from their office in Thame, Oxfordshire.

Due to expansion, we are searching for a talented, permanent structural engineer working on our Simply Architects brand to join our team in London on a remote working basis.

Job Specification

Structural engineer (Residential sector)

Working for the Simply Construction Group and our Simply Architects brand, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of residential projects including loft conversions, home extensions and basement conversions. You will work closely with our senior architect to deliver innovative and effective structural designs for a variety of residential projects. This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual to lead and manage the structural workload of Simply Construction Group.

This is a full time, remote and working from home position initially, although the candidate would be expected to attend monthly meetings at our office in Oxfordshire. As the company expands there may be a permanent office acquired. The candidate would need to work both from home and the office provided.

We are looking for the following:

· A relevant degree (BSc or equivalent) with a minimum of 3 years of professional experience, ideally within the residential sector.

· Experience managing projects and being responsible for day-to-day workload.

· Previous experience of working on loft conversions and extension projects. Basement conversion experience also preferable.

· Preparing structural designs, supporting calculations and full package of building control drawings, including drainage plans for renovation projects.

· Performing structural inspections, reporting on defects, and recommending remedial works. In depth knowledge of current Building Regulations.

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required for liaising between clients, and contractors.

· Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Benefits
