The Simply Construction Group is a home extension, loft and basement conversion specialist founded and managed by husband and wife team Robert and Helen Wood. It is comprised of three separate brands - Simply Extend which specialises in kitchen extensions; Simply Loft for loft conversions and more recently added to the group Simply Basement for basement conversions and Simply Architects, an architects practice. Being a family run business, Robert and Helen offer a personal touch and understanding of how many London families and homeowners want to expand their homes. In the last two years the group have expanded into Birmingham and the West Midlands offering loft conversions and extensions.

The journey began in 2008 when Robert left his full-time career in project management of railway and underground construction in London to set up the Simply Extend and Simply Loft firms. It started with a vision of creating a domestic building company that would focus on delivering home improvement in a simple and clearly structured way with a strong focus on customer care. Fixed prices, all in one design and build packages as well as project management and client-based systems for tracking progress are all central to the way things are run at Simply Construction Group. The group has expanded over the years and now runs anywhere up to 300 projects across London and the West Midlands in a year.

We are looking for an ambitious and driven individual to join our London team as an Assistant Site Manager to help us build upon our recent growth in this region. The successful candidate will be reporting to our Site Manager.

Job Description

Accountabilities

· Manage sub-contractors delivering Simply’s work:

o Testing new teams, monitoring them carefully and picking up any issues with them quickly. Swapping work with other teams if necessary.

o Removing badly performing teams, carefully limiting fall out and financial loss to the firm.

o Visit problem sites and assist in resolving issues.

o Checking sites are tidy and displaying company branding.

o Being a visible presence to all the building teams.

- Working closely with Site Manager and Operations team

· CDM and Health & Safety

o Making sure that all Simply’s sites comply with current CDM regulations. Making sure construction phase plans are done on each site and adequate risk assessments are done and documented.

· Project Management

o Can co-ordinate sub-contractors on a site. Making sure task are completed on time and to the required quality.

o Can produce basic project programmes.

o Have robust methods / systems to track issues / problems to resolution.

o Have good communication skills with clients and sub-contractors. Writing minutes for meetings and making sure actions are completed.

Experience

· Experience within a construction trade is essential. Needs to be able to spot any inadequate building practices and understand how extensions and lofts are built ideally.

· Ideally have a Site Manager Safety Training Scheme Certificate and / or IOSH Managing Safety certificate or similar.

· A good understanding of current CDM regulations.

· A good understanding of H&S regulations with training certificates to back it up.

· An understanding of the CIS scheme.

· A proven record of managing tradesmen / contractors.

· Some project Management experience preferable

· A minimum of 2 years construction experience with at least 1 year of project management experience.

· Strong interpersonal skills required.

· Good team player with ability to influence people positively.

· Ability to think outside the box and feedback ideas in terms of how to improve things.

· Well organised with good attention to detail

· Articulate, with good writing skills

· Confident in using Microsoft packages including excel, outlook and PowerPoint

Further Details:

This role can be based remotely with a work from home option if based in or near London.

· Employment on a permanent full-time basis.

· Full holiday, sick pay and pension

· From £28-37K per annum dependent on experience and location

· Clean driver’s license require

- A company phone and laptop will be provided.
