Full job description

We are a friendly and growing logistics company based at the Upper Heyford Airbase in Bicester. Due to continued growth, we are looking for an experienced and motivated Transport Manager to join our transport team.

Working alongside two other Transport Managers, you will play a key role in ensuring the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of our fleet and drivers while supporting the continued growth of the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the management of the company's Operator Licence compliance.
  • Ensure all vehicles are maintained in a safe, roadworthy, and compliant condition.
  • Monitor and manage fleet maintenance schedules, MOTs, inspections, servicing, and defect reporting.
  • Complete daily driver licence and compliance checks.
  • Investigate vehicle defects, incidents, accidents, and insurance claims.
  • Monitor driver performance, fuel usage, telematics data, and driver behaviour.
  • Manage compliance systems and maintain accurate fleet records.
  • Ensure all vehicle documentation is up to date, including maintenance records, inspections, and compliance paperwork.
  • Liaise with maintenance providers, insurers, and regulatory bodies where required.
  • Manage vehicle taxation, toll schemes, congestion charges, ULEZ registrations, and permit requirements.
  • Support the recruitment, onboarding, induction, and ongoing training of drivers.
  • Ensure drivers complete all required CPC, eLearning, and compliance training.
  • Assist with disciplinary investigations relating to driving standards and compliance issues.
  • Support fleet budgeting, invoice processing, and vehicle cost management.
  • Participate in the transport management on-call rota (additional pay).
  • Work closely with operational teams to ensure excellent customer service levels are maintained.

Essential Requirements

  • Previous experience in fleet management, transport management, or transport compliance.
  • Strong understanding of Operator Licence requirements and fleet compliance.
  • Knowledge of vehicle maintenance systems and defect reporting procedures.
  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills.
  • Strong communication and people management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable Requirements

  • CPC Qualification.
  • Experience managing a mixed commercial vehicle fleet.
  • Experience using telematics and fleet management software.
  • Knowledge of FORS, DVSA, and Traffic Commissioner requirements.
