Full job description

The Whittling House is a busy coastal restaurant with rooms in the heart of Alnmouth, Northumberland. Known for our relaxed atmosphere, seasonal menus and commitment to exceptional hospitality, we are looking for a talented and enthusiastic Chef de Partie to join our growing kitchen team.

Working alongside our Head Chef and Sous Chef, you'll play an important role in delivering high-quality dishes using the best local and seasonal ingredients from Northumberland and the surrounding coastline.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Running your own section and maintaining consistently high standards
  • Preparing and presenting dishes to specification during service
  • Supporting the senior kitchen team with menu development and daily specials
  • Ensuring food safety, cleanliness and HACCP procedures are followed at all times
  • Assisting with stock control, ordering and waste management
  • Helping to train and mentor junior chefs and kitchen assistants
  • Working collaboratively to deliver exceptional dining experiences for our guests

What We're Looking For

  • Previous experience as a Chef de Partie or strong Commis Chef ready for the next step
  • Passion for fresh, seasonal produce and quality cooking
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work calmly under pressure in a busy kitchen
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn and develop
  • Knowledge of food safety and kitchen best practices
  • Reliability, professionalism and strong teamwork skills
