Overview
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our vibrant culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Japanese cuisine, particularly sushi preparation, and a dedication to delivering exceptional dining experiences. This role offers an excellent opportunity to showcase your creativity and craftsmanship in a dynamic restaurant environment. The Sushi Chef will be responsible for preparing authentic sushi dishes, maintaining high standards of hygiene, and ensuring customer satisfaction through meticulous presentation and quality.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare a variety of sushi dishes, including nigiri, sashimi, maki rolls, uramaki, temaki, chirashi, California rolls and speciality creations, adhering to authentic Japanese techniques.
  • Ensure all ingredients are fresh, properly stored, and used in accordance with food safety standards.
  • Maintain a clean and organised work station in compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with the kitchen team to coordinate service times and ensure timely delivery of dishes.
  • Monitor inventory levels of sushi ingredients and communicate needs for restocking.
  • Innovate new sushi recipes to enhance menu offerings while respecting traditional methods.
  • Provide training and guidance to junior kitchen staff on sushi preparation techniques.
  • Uphold the restaurant’s reputation by consistently delivering high-quality dishes with attention to detail.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or similar role within a reputable restaurant or sushi bar.
  • Formal training or certification in Japanese cuisine or culinary arts is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of sushi ingredients, knife skills, and presentation techniques.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure during busy service hours.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices.
  • Creative flair with a passion for authentic Japanese cuisine.
  • Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. This position offers an exciting opportunity for talented Sushi Chefs eager to develop their skills further whilst contributing to an outstanding dining experience for our guests.

Pay: £15.00-£17.00 per hour
