Job Role: Multi-skilled Engineer

Pay Rate: Competitive, depending on entry-level skills and/or experience

Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday dayshift and backshift (on rotation basis), full-time, 40 hours per week with flexibility required as some overtime hours may be expected; Overtime hours paid at £30+ per hour

Role Overview:

This role involves providing electrical and mechanical engineering services and support so that all manufacturing and operational plans can be met.

This is an ideal opportunity for an Electrical Engineer with food manufacturing experience to join a successful expanding business and build a career for the future.

Duties will include although not limited to:

  • Carry out routine scheduled maintenance as set out in the planned preventative maintenance system.
  • To respond to equipment faults and breakdowns as required.
  • Plan access to areas and equipment to fulfil and closeout work requests using the Fixx system to create a record of work and ensure food safety.
  • Monitor, test, and adjust various systems across the site, ensuring optimal performance.
  • Assist the engineering team on large project work such as installation of new production lines, alterations, and upgrades to areas whether internal or external to the buildings.
  • Support the training and development of other engineers, apprentices, and support development of training material.
  • Uphold and enhance engineering standards to meet the evolving needs of the production environment.
  • Work closely with the engineering supervisor and other team members to support production operations effectively.
  • When required you will be expected to assist contractors to accomplish their tasks and support them while they are on site.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Skills and Experience Required:
  • Time-served engineer with an electrical or mechanical apprenticeship or similar qualifications.
  • Problem-solving abilities and a mindset for continuous improvement.
  • Self-motivated, a methodical work approach, and the ability to work independently.
  • Good communication skills and an aptitude for teamwork.
  • Attention to detail and high standards of work.
  • Fault-finding skills.
  • Previous experience in a similar role in FMCG or similar production unit.
  • Understanding of the principals and practice of food safety and maintenance within a food-manufacturing environment.
