Full job description

LittleInch is a family-owned care home operator with two homes in Renfrewshire, Inchinnan and Rashielee, a mile apart. We are recruiting a Maintenance Supervisor to lead the maintenance function across both sites.

This is a new role, designed for someone who wants to own how maintenance is run, not just work through a job list. You will set the planned maintenance schedule, choose and manage contractors, hold the compliance, run the budget and lead a small in-house team. You will also be on the tools yourself: this is a working supervisor role, not a desk job.

What we offer

- Salaried, 37.5 hour week, equivalent to £20.50 per hour (£39,975 per year)

- On-call attendance pay for genuine out-of-hours emergencies

- Petty cash float and ordering authority for the function

- Two pool cars and a minibus available for travel between sites; you will not be expected to use your own vehicle

- Free parking at both homes

- Confidential staff counselling service

- Workwear provided

- Subsidised staff café on shift

- Blue Light Card access

- Thirteen paydays a year (four-weekly pay cycle)

- Direct access to the directors. We are family-owned, visible and quick to decide.

The role

Reporting to the Managing Director, you will:

- Lead the in-house maintenance team across both homes: allocate work, supervise, induct and mentor.

- Develop and operate a planned preventative maintenance schedule across buildings, plant and grounds.

- Take operational ownership of Health and Safety and Fire Safety compliance, working with our regulatory partners, fire risk assessor and specialist contractors.

- Manage the statutory regime: legionella checks, fire alarm and emergency lighting tests, fire door inspections, PAT testing, LOLER inspections.

- Manage contractors: scope, induct, supervise, sign off and verify certification.

- Own maintenance ordering, including Toolstation, and consolidate purchases and site trips.

- Run the petty cash float with weekly reconciliation with the Finance Manager.

- Schedule works to minimise disruption to residents and care delivery.

- Carry out hands-on maintenance within your trade competency.

- Identify capital works and provide costed proposals.

- Act as the on-call point of contact for maintenance emergencies.

About you

- Multi-trade experience preferred: joinery, electrical or plumbing background, with the confidence to work across other trades.

- Trade qualification or equivalent experience in building, mechanical or general maintenance.

- Demonstrable supervisory experience in a maintenance, facilities or trades setting.

- Health and Safety competence (IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent), or willingness to undertake.

- Familiarity with statutory compliance in a regulated environment, whether care, hospitality, education or housing.

- Comfortable with planning, recordkeeping and contractor management. Good IT literacy.

- Full UK driving licence. D1 entitlement (minibus) a positive.
