About Us

Empower Me Studio Ltd is a Manchester-based photography business working with the established brands Andrew Wood Photography Manchester and Veloura Boudoir.

We specialise in luxury boudoir photography experiences designed to help clients feel confident, empowered and amazing about themselves.

Our clients come to us for more than just photographs. They come for a full experience that includes professional hair and makeup, expert posing, a beautiful studio environment and a supportive team who help them feel relaxed from the moment they walk through the door.

Many of our clients arrive feeling nervous or unsure, so we're looking for someone who is warm, reassuring, professional and genuinely passionate about helping people feel good about themselves.

The Role

We are looking for a friendly, confident and talented Make Up Artist to join our studio team on a 4-month fixed-term maternity cover contract (with potential to extend up to another 4 months)

Working two days per week, one weekday one weekend (15 hours), you will prepare clients for their boudoir experience by creating beautiful, camera-ready makeup and dry-styled hair looks that help them feel confident, comfortable and excited for their photoshoot.

Alongside makeup and hair styling, you'll also welcome clients, support the reception area, answer basic customer enquiries, prepare client spaces, assist with general administration and help deliver an exceptional client experience from start to finish.

This is a varied role within a small, supportive team where everyone works together to create an unforgettable experience for every client.

Key Responsibilities Make Up Artist

  • Provide professional makeup application and dry hair styling in line with the studio's luxury brand standards.
  • Help clients feel comfortable, confident and relaxed throughout their makeover experience.
  • Create flattering, camera-ready makeup looks suitable for studio lighting and photography.
  • Adapt makeup and hairstyles to suit each client's features, preferences, skin tone and confidence level.
  • Work confidently with clients of all ages, skin types, hair textures and personal styles.
  • Maintain a professional, respectful and sensitive approach at all times.
  • Keep the makeup area clean, organised, hygienic and fully prepared for each appointment.
  • Maintain high standards of hygiene, product care and brush/tool cleaning.
  • Talk clients through their look and build excitement for their photoshoot.
  • Work closely with photographers, reception, customer care and the wider studio team to ensure a seamless client journey.

Reception & Front of House Support

  • Welcome clients warmly and help create a calm, friendly atmosphere.
  • Offer refreshments and explain what to expect during their appointment.
  • Answer basic client enquiries both in person and over the phone.
  • Keep reception, client areas and studio spaces tidy, organised and beautifully presented.
  • Assist with diary management, client communication and general studio administration as required.

The ideal candidate will be:

  • An experienced Make Up Artist with a strong eye for detail and a passion for helping clients feel confident.
  • Warm, friendly and naturally personable.
  • Available to work Sundays
  • Comfortable working with clients who may feel nervous, self-conscious or vulnerable.
  • Professional, organised and reliable.
  • Calm under pressure in a busy studio environment.
  • Happy to support different areas of the business as needed.
  • A team player who understands the flexibility needed in a small business.
  • Passionate about confidence, empowerment and delivering outstanding customer experiences.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Professional makeup experience, ideally within beauty, bridal, makeover, photography or studio environments.
  • Experience with dry hair styling.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to create camera-ready makeup and hair suitable for professional photography.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • High standards of hygiene and care for makeup products, tools and workstations.
  • Confidence communicating with clients both in person and over the phone.
  • Willingness to support reception and administrative duties as part of the role.
  • Flexible attitude and willingness to help wherever required.Desirable Skills & Experience
  • Experience in boudoir, makeover, bridal or studio makeup.
  • Experience within a luxury, beauty, hospitality or customer service environment.
  • Experience using CRM or booking systems.
  • Basic administration and email skills.
  • An interest in creating social media content would be an advantage.
