The Company
Since 1909, Morgan Motor Company has been creating sports cars that celebrate craftsmanship, engineering and the simple pleasure of driving. Every Morgan is coach built by hand at our home in Malvern, where traditional skills sit alongside contemporary design and manufacturing techniques.
More than a century after the first Morgan was built, our historic factory remains the heart of the business. Admired and enjoyed around the world, each sports car reflects the care, skill and attention of those who build them.
At Morgan, every contribution matters. You'll work alongside passionate and talented colleagues, see the impact of your work first-hand, and help shape the next chapter of a company that remains true to its roots while continuing to evolve.
The Role
The Materials Manager at Morgan Motor Company Ltd will be responsible for leading all aspects of materials management to ensure seamless production operations and optimal supply chain performance. The role requires a strategic thinker with strong operational skills, balancing short-term delivery requirements with long-term business objectives. A key focus will be on reducing working capital, driving supplier performance improvements, managing supply risks, and ensuring efficient warehousing and logistics inbound and outbound operations.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory Management & Working Capital Reduction
- Develop and implement strategies to optimise stock levels while ensuring production continuity.
- Implement forecasting and demand planning tools to align material availability with build schedules.
- Drive working capital reduction by minimising excess stock, inventory accuracy, managing slow-moving items, and improving forecast accuracy.
- Regularly review KPIs for stock turns, obsolescence, and value of held inventory throughout the business.
- Manage the Cycle Counting process and ensure actions are taken to ensure inventory accuracy and integrity.
Supplier Development & OTIF Improvement
- Partner with suppliers to improve on-time-in-full (OTIF) performance and delivery reliability.
- Monitor and review supplier KPIs, driving corrective action plans and development initiatives where required.
- Work with Procurement to strengthen supplier relationships and support sustainable sourcing strategies.
- Establish clear performance metrics and conduct regular supplier reviews, including visits, audits and formal action plans.
Shortage Management
- Lead the daily shortage review process, ensuring rapid escalation and resolution of material supply issues, to minimise and mitigate any disruption to production.
- Implement proactive risk management to prevent shortages and minimise impact on production schedules.
- Work cross-functionally with engineering, procurement, quality and production teams to resolve supply bottlenecks.
Warehousing & Logistics
- Oversee all warehouse operations to ensure efficient storage, material flow, and accuracy of stock records, ensuring all Cycle Counting is completed to plan and corrective actions taken on discrepancies.
- Implement best practices in warehouse layout, space utilisation, and inventory control.
- Manage logistics operations including inbound, outbound, and internal material movements.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards within logistics and warehouse operations.
Day-to-Day Operations & Leadership
- Lead, motivate, and develop the materials team to achieve department and company objectives.
- Work closely with Production, Procurement, Quality, and Engineering to align materials planning with overall business needs.
- Monitor daily operational performance, resolving issues and driving continuous improvement.
- Report regularly on key performance indicators to senior management.
Essential Skills, Knowledge & Experience
- Proven experience in a materials, logistics, or supply chain management role within the automotive or manufacturing industry.
- Strong knowledge of inventory management principles and working capital reduction strategies.
- Experience in supplier performance improvement, particularly OTIF delivery.
- Demonstrated success in managing shortages and supply chain risks in a fast-paced operational environment.
- Solid understanding of warehousing, logistics, and ERP/MRP systems, including forecasting, S&OP, and production planning.
- Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence at all levels internally and externally.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Key Attributes

We are committed to fostering an inclusive and diverse workplace where all individuals feel valued and respected. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to inclusion, ensuring that their actions, communication, and decision-making reflect an appreciation for diverse perspectives. Artificial Intelligence and Recruitment
Artificial intelligence (AI) tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot and Gemini are increasingly being used to support applications. These tools can be helpful in shaping ideas, improving clarity and preparing for the recruitment process.
At Morgan, we recognise the value of these tools when used appropriately. However, it’s important that any use of AI reflects your own experience, skills and authenticity. Your application should always be a true representation of you.
Using AI Appropriately
You may use AI to support your application by:
- Refining and structuring your ideas
- Researching publicly available information about Morgan
- Understanding industry trends and linking them to your own experience
- Checking spelling, grammar and clarity
- Preparing for interviews, including practising potential questions
- Using AI Inappropriately
AI must not be used to:
- Misrepresent, exaggerate or invent your skills or experience
- Submit generic, AI-generated responses that do not reflect you
- Complete assessments designed to evaluate your abilities (e.g. numerical or situational judgement tests)
- Generate answers during live or recorded interviews
- Respond to scenario-based questions on your behalf
- Input sensitive or confidential information into AI tools
Why Being You Matters
We’re not looking for perfect answers, we’re looking for the right fit for Morgan.
Your application and interview should give us a genuine understanding of your experience, your thinking, and how you align with our values. We want people who bring their own perspective, not something generated.
Using AI inappropriately, particularly during assessments or interviews, undermines the fairness of our process. We assess all candidates on merit, and authenticity is key to that.
As part of your application, you’ll be asked to confirm that the information you’ve provided is accurate and your own. Where AI is used inappropriately, we may withdraw your application.
Our Expectation
We value individuals who are proudly different, bringing their own perspective, experience and approach. So, please, present yourself in a way that reflects who you are, what you’ve done, and what you can bring to Morgan.
