Job Description

We're looking for a senior accountant who enjoys using technology to work smarter — not just harder.

This role suits someone with a solid grounding in practice who wants to shape how the work gets done, not just do it. You'll own a portfolio, review the work of others, and be trusted to deliver high-quality output and to challenge inefficient processes. You'll also be working in a firm that takes the AI shift seriously.

What you'll do

  • Manage a portfolio of clients as their main point of contact
  • Prepare and review statutory accounts, tax returns, and compliance work to a high standard
  • Review the work of junior staff and support their development
  • Use accounting software, data tools, and AI responsibly to increase efficiency
  • Identify opportunities to automate repetitive tasks and redesign processes that no longer earn their keep
  • Apply professional judgement and scepticism when reviewing outputs (human or AI-generated)
  • Handle technical queries and escalate the ones that genuinely need escalating

What we're looking for

  • ACA, ACCA or CTA qualified
  • Several years' experience in general practice
  • Strong Excel / data skills and comfort working across multiple systems
  • Demonstrable interest in automation, process improvement, and AI tools
  • A curious, analytical mindset — you ask "why are we doing this this way?"
  • Comfortable taking ownership and suggesting improvements
  • Solid experience with cloud accounting software (e.g. Xero, QuickBooks)
  • Clear, effective written and spoken communication

Pay: £45,000.00-£60,000.00 per year
