The Role - Stores & Purchasing Manager

We are seeking a highly organised and strategic Stores & Purchasing Manager to lead our purchasing and stores departments. Positioned as a critical link within our operational infrastructure, the successful candidate will align procurement and stores activities with our engineering, design, and manufacturing departments.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Sourcing & Commercial Management

  • Oversee and ensure commercial negotiations with key suppliers to achieve measurable cost reductions.
  • Evaluate and manage supplier performance to guarantee material quality and supply chain resilience.
  • Formulate and implement procurement strategies.

Stores & Critical Spares Management

  • Oversee critical engineering spares, maintaining accuracy regarding location, valuation, and availability.
  • Direct the stores team to ensure optimal day-to-day operations and meeting department requirements.
  • Continually review the stores department workflows and embed smart, sustainable and compliant methods.
  • Implement and maintain a CMMS across the departments – working with Senior Management
  • LOLER & PUWER - ensure all lifting gear and work equipment are traceable and legally compliant; overseeing inspection scheduling.
  • Collaborate with engineering and design teams to forecast and meet requirements within specific timeframes.

Team Leadership

  • Lead the daily activities of purchasing and stores team.
  • Oversee workforce development by identifying training needs, conducting performance reviews, and fostering a supportive working environment.

Experience

  • Extensive experience within a procurement and stores leadership role within the engineering industry.
  • A proven track record of managing teams and driving operational efficiency.
  • Ability to work with different stakeholders at all levels.
