About Us

Birdshill Renewables is an innovative and growing company, delivering high-quality renewable energy and energy efficiency solutions. Built on strong values of integrity, efficiency, and continuous improvement, we are committed to making a positive environmental impact while supporting our customers and communities.

We are proud to operate as an employee-owned business through an Employee Ownership Trust (EOT). This means our people are at the heart of everything we do—sharing in the success of the company and contributing to its future direction. This structure fosters a collaborative, transparent, and supportive working culture, with the potential for tax-free bonuses (subject to company performance and HMRC guidelines), alongside greater job satisfaction and long-term stability.

As we continue to grow, we are looking for a proactive and commercially aware Quantity Surveyor / Project Manager to join our team.

The Role

This is a varied and dynamic role combining commercial management with project delivery and compliance oversight. You will play a key role in managing project costs, ensuring financial control, and supporting the successful delivery of renewable energy projects in line with industry standards such as MCS and PAS 2035.

Working closely with finance, compliance, and operational teams, you will ensure that projects are delivered efficiently, profitably, and in full compliance with relevant regulations and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Commercial / Quantity Surveying

  • Preparing cost estimates, budgets, and tender submissions
  • Managing project costs, cash flow, and financial reporting
  • Raising valuations, variations, and final accounts
  • Reviewing contracts and ensuring compliance with terms
  • Procuring subcontractors and suppliers

Project Management

  • Planning and overseeing project delivery from inception to completion
  • Coordinating internal teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders
  • Monitoring project progress, timelines, and budgets
  • Identifying and managing risks and resolving issues
  • Ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget

Compliance & Documentation

  • Supporting compliance with MCS and PAS 2030/2035 requirements
  • Ensuring all project documentation is complete, accurate, and audit-ready
  • Assisting with internal and external audits
  • Liaising with compliance teams and external bodies where required
  • Maintaining accurate records in line with industry and regulatory standards

Requirements

  • Degree or qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or similar
  • Strong commercial awareness and cost management skills
  • Good understanding of construction contracts and project delivery
  • High level of accuracy, organisation, and attention to detail
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to manage workload independently and as part of a team

Desirable

  • Experience within renewable energy or construction sectors
  • Knowledge of UK construction contracts and procurement processes
  • Familiarity with compliance schemes such as MCS, PAS 2030/2035, or ECO4
  • Experience working within a small or growing business environment

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary (depending on experience)
  • Company pension
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Employee discount
  • Gym membership
  • Private medical insurance
  • Sick pay
  • Flexible working options
  • Ongoing training and career development opportunities
  • A friendly and supportive team environment

Employee Ownership Trust (EOT) Benefits:

As an employee-owned business, everyone at Birdshill Renewables contributes to and benefits from the company’s success. This creates a stronger sense of shared purpose, collaboration, and transparency. Employees may also receive tax-free bonuses (subject to company performance and HMRC guidelines), alongside the opportunity to grow within a stable, forward-thinking organisation.
