Full job description

Embankment Kitchen and Embankment Café are vibrant and welcoming dining destinations, offering high-quality food, exceptional service, and a relaxed atmosphere. We pride ourselves on delivering memorable guest experiences and are looking for a passionate manager to lead our team.

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Restaurant & Café Manager to oversee daily operations, ensure excellent guest service, and drive business performance. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader with strong organisational and people management skills.

Born on the site of the once iconic Manchester Exchange railway station, CitySuites I and CitySuites II Aparthotels embody the very spirit of the city, standing tall as a testament to the forward-thinking essence of Manchester. Our 5* apartments are a sanctuary amidst the chaos, allowing our guests to navigate the city with ease.

Along our journey, we’ve immensely proud to have launched Embankment Kitchen, our modern seasonal restaurant and bar, as well as Embankment Cafe Co., offering artisan coffees and freshly made cakes and sandwiches. Our sophisticated meeting and event spaces have grown too, hosting everything from board meetings to launch parties, and even wedding receptions.

We’re made up of brilliant people, who care deeply, have a passion for their craft, an obsession for the best, and an altogether extraordinary spirit. We love this space, and we work hard to make sure our residents love it as much as we do. We’re proud to be a part of the CitySuites story.

As the Embankment Restaurant & Café Manager, your role plays a critical role in overseeing the day-to-day operations of a restaurant and cafes. You will be responsible for ensuring that the venues run smoothly, providing excellent guest service, managing team members, and handling administrative duties.

· Guest Service

  • Guest Relations: Ensure customers have an exceptional dining experience by addressing complaints, taking special requests, and ensuring the overall atmosphere is welcoming.
  • Quality Control: Make sure that food quality, presentation, and service standards meet the restaurant's expectations.

· Operations Management

  • Inventory and Ordering: Monitor stock levels, order food and supplies, and manage relationships with vendors. Control food costs and wastage.
  • Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure that the restaurant complies with health and safety regulations, including sanitation, food safety, and labour laws.
  • Overseeing Front and Back of House: Coordinate between the kitchen and dining area to ensure smooth operation.

· Financial Management

  • Budgeting and Cost Control: Oversee financial operations, including managing labour costs, food costs, and other expenses. Maximise profitability while maintaining quality.
  • Cash Handling: Ensure proper cash handling, record-keeping, and financial reporting.

· Problem-Solving

  • Conflict Resolution: Address issues or conflicts between employees, guests, or suppliers efficiently.
  • Decision Making: Make quick decisions, whether it's managing an unhappy customer, solving operational problems, or making employee changes.

Competencies and Skills:

  • A friendly, approachable demeanour and the ability to handle complaints or difficult situations gracefully.
  • Time management and attention to detail are essential.
  • Ability to think quickly and find solutions to unexpected challenges.
  • Understanding of budgeting, cost control, and profitability.
  • The ability to lead and motivate a diverse team of employees while fostering a positive work environment.
  • Ensuring food quality and cleanliness standards are always met.
