About Mango

We’re an independent bar and eatery in central Southampton, built around Thai tapas, island cocktails, and a fun atmosphere. Think great food, good music, colourful interiors, busy shifts and guests who come back because the whole experience feels fun, relaxed and personal.

We’re looking for an Assistant Manager to join our Mango Above Bar team. This role is perfect for someone with hospitality supervisory experience who’s ready to take the next step, lead from the floor and help keep the venue running smoothly.

About the Role

As Assistant Manager, you’ll work closely with the Restaurant Manager and senior team to support day-to-day operations, lead shifts, coach the team and help create the atmosphere Mango is known for.

You’ll be hands-on across the restaurant, whether that means running the floor, working on the bar, helping manage bookings, keeping service flowing or jumping in where needed. First and foremost, your priority will be delivering brilliant shifts and making sure guests have a great experience.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Leading shifts and supporting daily restaurant operations
  • Creating a fun, friendly and feel-good atmosphere
  • Supporting staff training, coaching and development
  • Planning shifts with Aces in Places so everyone knows their role
  • Maintaining high standards of service, cleanliness and presentation
  • Working closely with the kitchen team to keep service running smoothly
  • Supporting bookings, rotas, stock, ordering and cash management
  • Handling customer feedback and turning every experience into a positive one
  • Helping uphold health, safety and food hygiene standards
  • Working with senior management to drive sales and improve the business

Requirements

You’ll need previous supervisory experience, ideally in a restaurant, bar or busy café environment.

You must be available for a minimum of 25 hours per week, including evenings, weekends and holidays. Regular days off are Sunday and Monday, with opportunities to cover shifts at Mango Portswood and hours available up to 45 per week (season/cover shifts dependent).

You must be available throughout the festive period, excluding 24th to 26th December.

Rate of pay is based on experience.

Pay: £13.25-£14.00 per hour
