Full job description

** Please note, this position is office-based in Truro, Cornwall (UK). Hybrid working may be considered after successful completion of a probationary period. Working from our office in Truro, our Software Quality Assurance Analyst role predominantly involves planning, actioning and monitoring the testing of our systems, applications and software, ensuring the highest quality is maintained. You will be involved throughout projects, from contributing to and understanding user stories and associated acceptance criteria, through to testing under real user conditions and feeding back in our project reviews to help continual improvement.

You will be further developing our existing testing frameworks such as Playwright to build and maintain a library of structured tests, and you will have the ability to independently undertake a range of testing activities to ensure quality and accuracy across a varied selection of projects.

You will be automating testing as part of our CI/CD implementation, working closely with business leaders, IT developers and IT operations to ensure changes and improvements are delivered effectively.

We are looking for someone who will take pride in the quality of software and services delivered by the team, has excellent attention to detail and is able to effectively communicate with colleagues in our dynamic Agile team.

You must be willing to learn and able to put yourself into the shoes of the people who will be using the software. We would welcome applications from people with wider experience who have an interest and skills in Quality Assurance.

Current technology in use at Cornish Mutual includes:

Azure DevOps, Github
DotNet, C#
Microsoft SQL
Playwright, NUnit, Specflow/Reqnroll

Some of the other areas we’re engaged in at Cornish Mutual include use of Github AI tools, Data Warehousing, SQL server Graph and Service Orchestration.

Brief, preliminary interviews - to shortlist candidates - will take place online on Monday 27th July. Subsequent in-person interviews will be held at our Truro office on Wednesday 29th and Thursday 30th July.

All interview timeslots will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience of developing effective relationships between IT and the wider business
  • Experience of manual testing and knowledge of automation practices and tools
  • Knowledge of software Quality Assurance methodologies, tools and processes
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines
  • Basic understanding of SQL and scripting e.g. can view and understand datasets
  • Basic understanding of Git, branch management and version recovery
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Data management, numeracy and analytical problem-solving skills
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Good self-organisational and time management skills

RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

  • Understanding software requirements and helping define acceptance criteria
  • Contributing to the design and implementation of an automated testing framework
  • Learning new skills through colleague training, online courses, self-development and other means as part of a personal development plan
  • Promoting quality through attention to detail, analytical thought and critical analysis
  • Preparing accurate test reports and providing direct feedback to developers
  • Contributing to improving quality at all stages of the software development lifecycle
