Job Title: Buyer

Location: Swindon, Wiltshire (Hybrid Working Available)

Salary: £37,000 per annum

Core Hours: Monday – Friday 08:30 – 17:00 (37.5 hours per week)

About the Opportunity

Bolt Technical are recruiting for a Buyer to join a leading supplier of specialist electrical and interconnect solutions, serving highly regulated industries including Aerospace, Defence, Motorsport, Medical, Energy and Industrial sectors.

This is an excellent opportunity for a purchasing professional looking to develop their career within a technically advanced and fast-paced environment. You'll play a key role in managing supplier relationships, maintaining inventory levels, supporting customer demand, and driving cost-saving initiatives across the supply chain.

Key Responsibilities

  • Place purchase orders to maintain optimum inventory levels across stocked and non-stocked products
  • Manage supplier relationships to achieve cost, quality and delivery objectives
  • Analyse supplier quotations and negotiate competitive pricing and commercial agreements
  • Monitor supplier performance and ensure deliveries are achieved on time and in full
  • Work closely with Sales teams to establish current and forecast demand requirements
  • Manage inventory levels to balance customer service requirements and stock investment
  • Maintain supplier pricing agreements and communicate updates internally
  • Produce and analyse purchasing and supplier performance reports
  • Support the introduction of new products from existing and new suppliers
  • Maintain accurate purchasing, supplier and ERP system data
  • Collaborate with internal departments to improve processes and drive operational efficiencies
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and cost-saving activities across the business

What They're Looking For

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a Buyer, Purchasing, Procurement or Supply Chain role
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills with the ability to manage forecasts and inventory data
  • Experience managing purchase orders, supplier deliveries and inventory requirements
  • Confident communicator with the ability to build relationships across all levels
  • Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving
  • Ability to prioritise workload and manage multiple tasks effectively
  • Team-focused approach with a collaborative working style
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills would be advantageous
  • CIPS Level 3 qualification or equivalent experience would be beneficial
  • Experience within manufacturing, engineering, electronics or technical distribution environments would be desirable
