Role: Folding Operator

About Elanders........

Elanders UK is part of the Elanders group. We deliver Print, Packaging and Value-Added services at our North Tyneside facility.

Our major customers are active in the areas of; Education, Automotive, Industrial & Technical, Consumer goods & Premium Alcohol

Elanders UK operates across 2 sites; in North Tyneside and Birmingham. We have an exciting new opportunity for a Folding Operator to join our team in North Tyneside.

About you.......

We are looking for a time served and trained folding operator capable of working folding and bindery equipment to the highest level, completing work in a timely manner, achieving excellent quality and productivity.

Key tasks are:-

· Follow and adhere to company Health, Safety and Quality standards, identify near misses and hazards and appropriate suggestions for improvement.

· Operating the folding machines within the finishing department; performing make readies and setting the machine up as per the specification on the work ticket.

· Set up and monitor folding machines when overseen by Finishing Assistants.

· Have a key eye for detail throughout the production of any products.

· Apply working machinery knowledge to ensure faults and identified and resolved quickly with minimum downtime.

· Work to agreed continuous improvement approaches such as 5S, short interval control, maintenance activity and identify any issues that prevent performance targets being achieved.

· Ensure optimum efficiency of the finishing equipment using OEE and relevant targets.

· To ensure all documentation is filled out correctly (e.g. Near Miss reporting and Quality Inspection Sheets).

· To ensure the correct procedures are followed in relation to Shop Floor Data Capture and associated timesheets.

· Establish and maintain best working practices, adopting best and most economic method of production, consistent with company standards and customer requirements.

· To ensure that quality and environmental standards are adhered to, working with KPI’s and meeting targets.

· Observe and comply with the company Health and Safety Policy and be knowledgeable with regards to all company policies and procedures relating to the Finishing Department.

· Effective communication across all sections of the Finishing Department.

· Perform any other duties as directed by the Finishing Team Leader, Factory Shift Manager or Production Manager.

What skills you will need.......

· Fully competent and trained folding operator who has operated the same or similar folding machines.

· Knowledge of the print industry and a technical knowledge of finishing processes.

· Be able to demonstrate:

  • Problem solving skills
  • Excellent communication
  • Independent working and the ability to work as part of a team
