Full job description

Main Purpose

The Senior Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring that all products comply with company, customer, and regulatory quality requirements. The role focuses on identifying, investigating, and resolving quality issues, implementing robust corrective and preventive actions, and driving continuous improvement.

Working closely with production and cross‑functional teams, the Senior Quality Engineer supports the maintenance of high-quality standards throughout the manufacturing process. They are responsible for maintaining quality control data, preparing accurate reports, and supporting the ongoing development and compliance of the Quality Management System.

The role also provides key support to the Quality Manager in sustaining and improving compliance with ISO 9001 and IATF 16949, ensuring that certification is maintained.

Core Responsibilities

Quality Management System

  • Maintain and update the Company’s Business Operating System to ensure ongoing compliance with ISO 9001 and IATF 16949.
  • Support continual improvement of quality processes and ensure they consistently deliver their intended outputs.
  • Participate in internal system, process, and product audits, ensuring timely follow‑up and closure of resulting actions.
  • Assist in maintaining the company’s certification to ISO 9001 and IATF 16949.

Quality Performance & Reporting

  • Monitor and evaluate the Company’s quality performance, preparing regular quality status reports for management.
  • Analyse quality data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Manage and support quality improvement projects and continuous improvement initiatives across the business.

Corrective & Preventive Action

  • Investigate internal quality incidents and customer complaints to determine root cause and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Ensure preventive actions are identified, implemented, and embedded within relevant processes.
  • Maintain and update Process FMEAs and other forms of process risk assessment.

Customer & Supplier Quality

  • Ensure customer-specific quality requirements are understood and met.
  • Provide quality assurance data to customers and manage responses to complaints, surveys, and enquiries.
  • Work with suppliers to support quality improvements, including conducting second‑party supplier audits to ISO 9001 or IATF 16949 when required.
  • Process Corrective Action Reports and Supplier Concern Reports and track them to closure.

Production Quality Assurance

  • Conduct production inspections and maintain accurate inspection records.
  • Collaborate with and support production teams in understanding and applying quality control procedures and standards.
  • Promote awareness of customer requirements throughout the organisation.

Documentation & Communication

  • Create, maintain, and control quality documentation, reports, and records.
  • Communicate quality or compliance concerns promptly to management.
  • Support the Quality Manager and deputise as required during periods of absence.
  • Carry out additional duties as assigned to support the effective operation of the quality function

Objectives & KPI’s

· Reduction in internal non‑conformances

· Reduction in customer complaints

· Timely completion of audits and corrective actions

· Improvements in first‑time‑pass yield

· Supplier quality performance metrics

· BOS and QMS compliance scores

Pay: £55,000.00-£60,000.00 per year
