Full job description

Join Ipsos and take on a role that gets you out and about in your local area. As a Field Market Research Interviewer, you’ll travel across bus routes and stations, speaking with passengers to help improve public transport across the UK.

What the Role Involves

Each shift is based on a specific route, stop, or station. You’ll be provided with everything you need, including a tablet, survey materials, and ID, to carry out your work confidently.

During your shift, you will:

  • Approach passengers and invite them to take part in a short survey
  • Ask a set of structured questions and accurately record responses
  • Capture feedback on their journey and experience
  • Occasionally count passenger numbers (footfall)

Shifts may vary:

  • Some involve travelling on a bus for the full route
  • Others are based at a bus stop or station (typically around 3 hours)

You’ll be working independently, often in public-facing environments, so confidence and resilience are key.

What to Expect

  • Paid per shift (rather than hourly)
  • Typically around 2 shifts per week, depending on local demand
  • Flexible, part-time work that fits around other commitments
  • Free travel on the bus services you are surveying
  • Opportunities for additional work and performance-based earnings

This role can involve early starts, varied locations, and approaching people who may not always want to take part, but it’s also a great way to work flexibly and meet a wide range of people.

Why Join Ipsos?

  • Comprehensive, award-winning training
  • Supportive team environment and ongoing guidance
  • Access to employee discounts

You’ll Be a Great Fit If You:

  • Are confident speaking to members of the public
  • Are comfortable working independently in different locations
  • Can stay motivated, even when responses are low
  • Have a full driving licence and access to a car
  • Are happy travelling locally and working on buses
  • Are looking for flexible, ongoing fieldwork opportunities

Ready to Get Started?

Apply now to join Ipsos as a Market Research Interviewer and help shape the future of public transport across the UK.
