Full job description
Brand & Marketing Director, Shiko Group
Reports to: Board
Location: Manchester based, regular travel to Leeds
Level: Senior Leadership Team
About Shiko
Shiko Group is an experience-led hospitality operator with eight unique venues across Manchester and Leeds. Each concept is built around a distinct identity, loyal customer base, and a commitment to experience over transaction, establishing Shiko Group as one of the most exciting independent operators in the North of England.
The Role
Shiko is looking for a Marketing Director to lead brand and marketing output across a growing,
multi-venue hospitality portfolio. This is a hands-on, SLT-level role responsible for driving footfall across core sessions, shaping and delivering the events calendar, and taking the lead on brand standards and output across every venue. You'll build and lead a growing team, currently of five, and play a central role in the brand identity of new venue launches as the group expands.
Key Responsibilities
- Own marketing and brand strategy across the full venue portfolio, respecting the distinct identity of each brand/concept
- Build, manage and develop a marketing team of five or more, taking ownership of hiring, structure, and progression as the portfolio and team scale
- Set the tone and standards for how the marketing function operates day to day, creating a culture of accountability and pride in the brands they represent
- Drive footfall for core high-volume sessions and build out the regular events programme
- Take the lead on brand standards and output across venues, both online and offline, working closely with venue operations to ensure consistent delivery
- Lead marketing input on new venue openings, from concept through to launch
- Maintain and develop relationships with key external stakeholders
- Direct and manage external suppliers and agencies across PR and media
- Support the hire/reservations team in driving incoming enquiries and delivering outgoing comms and advertising collateral
- Ensure internal marketing systems and processes are followed and maintained across the team
- Build and maintain strong working relationships across marketing, sales, and operations, ensuring alignment and clear communication where remits overlap
- Report into and work closely with the Board on strategy, performance and budget
Success Measures
Success in this role will be measured primarily against venue revenue and sales performance, both at core session level and across the events programme, with a clear line from marketing activity to commercial outcome.
Brand output standards, online and in-venue, should be consistently maintained and elevated across the portfolio, with each brand's distinct identity protected rather than diluted as the group scales.
The role also carries responsibility for the health of external relationships, including PR and media suppliers, and for the smooth running of internal marketing systems and processes.
Beyond output, this person will be judged on the strength and stability of the team they build: retention, development, and their ability to lead a growing function without escalating friction internally.
Given the seniority of this position and its natural crossover with sales and operations, success will also depend on the strength of interdepartmental relationships, working collaboratively rather than territorially, and resolving overlap in remit through communication rather than escalation.
Must Haves
- Director-level experience overseeing marketing/brand for a multi-venue hospitality group
- Experience with genuinely differentiated brands/concepts under one group, not a single format replicated across sites
- Experience managing marketing function growth in a multi-site or multi-brand environment, including hiring and structuring a team to match expanding operational demand
- Experience balancing marketing for core recurring sessions alongside a distinct events calendar, without one cannibalising resource or attention from the other
- Experience developing and safeguarding brand identity and standards across multiple distinct concepts under one group, ensuring consistency of quality without flattening what makes each brand different
