Full job description

ABOUT QUELLA BIKES: Quella is a growing British bike brand designing and selling high-quality commuter and lifestyle bicycles. We are a small, practical and customer-focused team. The Shoreditch store will be a key part of the brand’s growth, and this role will directly contribute to delivering a high-quality retail and service experience.

JOB PURPOSE SUMMARY: This role includes regular full-day shifts working completely alone in the store and workshop, with no Store Manager on site. You will be fully responsible for opening and closing the store, running the shop floor, managing customers, handling service bookings and carrying out mechanical work independently. This is a hands-on role suited to someone confident operating a small retail and workshop environment on their own, while delivering a high standard of customer service and professional bicycle servicing. This role could lead onto additional roles in the company as we grow.

THE ROLE: This role combines retail sales, bicycle demonstrations and workshop duties. On some days you will be the only member of staff in the store, responsible for all day-to-day activity, customer interactions and basic workshop operations. You will play a key role in maintaining smooth store operations and ensuring customers continue to receive a consistent and professional experience when the Store Manager is not present.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Customer Experience & Sales

  • Deliver a high standard of customer service in-store, by phone and by email
  • Manage bike demonstrations and customer test rides
  • Advise customers on Quella bicycles, accessories and servicing options
  • Process retail sales and service bookings independently
  • Handle customer enquiries, follow-ups and basic complaints professionally
  • Build positive relationships with local customers and represent the brand to a high standard

Workshop & Mechanical Responsibilities

  • Carry out bicycle servicing and repairs independently, appropriate to your experience level
  • Complete builds, safety checks and pre-delivery inspections
  • Diagnose basic mechanical issues and clearly explain required work to customers
  • Accurately record work carried out and update job cards and systems
  • Maintain a clean, organised and safe workshop environment

Store & Operations Responsibilities

  • Open and close the store independently
  • Run the store alone for full trading days when scheduled
  • Take full responsibility for the shop floor, workshop activity and customer experience during solo shifts
  • Manage bookings, customer handovers and daily priorities while working alone
  • Handle cash and card transactions and end-of-day procedures
  • Maintain visual standards and presentation of the retail space
  • Assist with stock handling for parts, accessories and consumables
  • Able to do more hours if needed to cover holidays or attend training.

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Previous experience in a bicycle retail and workshop environment
  • Proven practical experience servicing and repairing bicycles independently
  • Confident dealing with customers and explaining technical issues clearly
  • Demonstrated ability to run a retail and workshop environment alone for full shifts
  • Comfortable opening and closing a store and taking responsibility with no on-site supervision
  • Reliable, organised and able to prioritise workload while working alone
  • Friendly, professional and strongly customer-focused
  • Organisation and communication will be key
  • Drive to take ownership of projects and continuously improve our processes

PACKAGE & BENEFITS

  • Part-time role
  • £14.80 per hour (London Living Wage)
  • Staff discount on bikes and accessories
  • Cycle-to-work scheme
  • Pension
  • Opportunity to grow with the business and develop your skills within a flagship store environment
