Full job description

Overview has an exciting opportunity to join the team as an Electro-Mechanical Assembly Technician and play a key role in building high-quality, precision-engineered products from our head office in Woking, Surrey. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled and detail-oriented technician to contribute across assembly, testing, inspection and packing, ensuring products are delivered to the highest standards of quality and performance. Working both independently and as part of a team, you’ll also support continuous improvement, help troubleshoot issues and use your expertise to mentor colleagues and lead production activity when needed. Please note that this role is based on site in Woking.

All roles are subject to BPSS clearance. This role is not eligible for Visa Sponsorship.

Key Responsibilities.

  • Assemble and integrate electro-mechanical products either independently or as part of an assembly team, ensuring builds are completed within agreed time targets while maintaining the required quality standards.
  • Accurately use office software Word and Excel for data recording and reporting.
  • Run installed test programs and scripts when required.
  • Assemble, fit and install components including motors, servomechanisms, cabling and PCBs using appropriate hand and power tools.
  • Accurately interpret engineering drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and wiring schematics.
  • Support the Production Supervisor with the progression of work orders, receipt of kits and maintenance of accurate production data using internal systems.
  • Carry out electrical and mechanical testing, calibration, diagnostics, fault-finding and rework on assemblies and sub-assemblies using tools like multimeters, callipers, and micrometres.
  • Liaise with Quality Assurance to support fault identification and rework activities on both internal production and non- conformances and customer returned products (RMA), completing associated documentation including FMEA where required.
  • Maintain clear, accurate and traceable build, test and repair records in line with company and customer requirements.
  • Review and update work instructions as required, working with Manufacturing Engineering to ensure they reflect the most efficient and effective build methods.
  • Ensure all work is completed in compliance with Health & Safety, COSHH & ESD standards and conforms to implemented ISO 9001 & 14001 management systems.
  • Maintain consistently high standards of workmanship to ensure products meet customer and company quality expectations.
  • Proactively identify problems, suggest improvements and contribute to continuous improvement activities including Lean and 5S initiatives.
  • Lead cells or lines of products and support the training, mentoring and development of colleagues when required.
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties as required to support the needs of the business.

Skills & Qualifications.

Mandatory

  • Able to communicate fluently and effectively in English (both written and verbal).
  • Proven experience in complex, electro-mechanical assembly.
  • Proven experience using Microsoft Office packages (Word/Excel) for data recording and report writing.
  • Previous experience in running installed test programs and scripts.
  • Proficient in soldering (e.g., IPC standards), cable harnessing and mechanical fitting.
  • Able to produce and comprehend relevant documentation & training.
  • Able to understand technical mechanical drawings & measurement instructions preferred.
  • Skilled with precision measurement tools (callipers, micrometres) and hand tools.
  • Strong attention to detail, able to troubleshoot, and keen to find solutions to problems.
  • Able to work well both individually and within a team with minimal supervision.
  • Experience leading, mentoring and training small teams or lines.
  • Experience maintaining accurate production records, inspection, RMA reports and timesheets.

Preferred

  • Experience or interest in programming and programming languages

The Process
