Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Mechanical Electrical Technician will join a small supportive team delivering a range of wastewater treatment projects. The role involves electrical and mechanical assembly of equipment designed by our in-house engineering team to water industry standards.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on technician to work alongside experienced engineers to assemble industrial machinery for use within the water industry, contributing to real-world solutions that help protect the environment.

What you will do:

  • Carry out mechanical and electrical assembly activities, including fitting pumps, valves, pipework, tanks, frames and ancillary equipment.
  • Install and terminate electrical wiring, cables, sensors, motors and instrumentation.
  • Build up equipment from engineering drawings, wiring schematics, work instructions and bills of materials.
  • Ensure all assemblies meet quality, safety and technical standards.
  • Identify and report technical, quality or production issues and support their resolution.
  • Record build information, as-built changes and drawing discrepancies, providing feedback to the design team.
  • Maintain accurate inspection, testing and build documentation.
  • Keep the workshop clean, organised and compliant with health, safety and environmental requirements.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance quality, efficiency and workshop performance.

Your profile:

  • You will have completed an apprenticeship in a relevant technical discipline.
  • You will ideally hold a formal qualification e.g. ONC or equivalents in a relevant discipline.
  • Experience in mechanical and electrical assembly within an engineering, manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and electrical wiring diagrams.
  • Competent in the use of standard mechanical and electrical tools.
  • Understanding of relevant health and safety requirements.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Able to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with engineers, supervisors and colleagues.
  • Flexible, adaptable and willing to learn new skills.
  • Experience within the water, wastewater, process equipment or similar industries would be advantageous.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on mechanical & electrical assembly work, takes pride in their work, and wants to build specialist machinery. It's perfect for someone with a mechanical electrical background who is eager to learn, work from schematics, and grow their skills assembly within an engineering company.

We offer an interesting role that provides ownership, a competitive salary and benefits package as well as sound development opportunities in an organisation that has strong core values and where people matter to help to protect and enhance the environment.
