About the Role

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented CAD Technician to join our engineering team. This role is ideal for someone with a strong mechanical engineering background who enjoys producing high-quality technical drawings and supporting the design and manufacture of fabricated metal products.

Working closely with our Design Engineer and production team, you will be responsible for creating and maintaining manufacturing drawings, assembly drawings, and customer approval drawings for a range of high-security products. Experience working with fabricated steel or stainless steel products would be highly advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce accurate 2D manufacturing drawings and 3D CAD models.
  • Create detailed fabrication, welding and assembly drawings.
  • Update and maintain existing engineering drawings and documentation.
  • Generate Bills of Materials (BOMs).
  • Ensure drawings comply with company standards and manufacturing requirements.
  • Liaise with production to resolve design or manufacturing queries.
  • Assist with product development and continuous improvement projects.
  • Create customer approval drawings where required.
  • Maintain drawing revisions and engineering records.
  • Support the wider engineering team with technical documentation.

Essential Requirements

  • Experience as a CAD Technician within a mechanical engineering environment.
  • Proficient in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks and/or Autodesk preferred).
  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings, tolerances and manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to produce accurate fabrication and assembly drawings.
  • Good understanding of mechanical engineering principles.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Desirable Requirements

  • Experience working with fabricated steel or stainless steel products.
  • Knowledge of sheet metal, machining, welding and fabrication processes.
  • Experience producing manufacturing documentation and BOMs.
  • Familiarity with PDM/Vault systems.
  • Experience within security products, construction, street furniture, or heavy engineering.
  • Understanding of Design for Manufacture (DFM).
