Job Purpose

The Associate Director Medical Affairs, Global Franchise Metabolic and Dermato-Oncology (MEDO), orchestrate the development of integrated medical strategy and operational plans for a new product launch to support the continued growth of the RRD portfolio.

The role will be responsible for proposing and executing the global medical strategy, driving evidence generation, scientific engagement, and cross-functional collaboration throughout the product lifecycle. S/he will work closely with global stakeholders across Clinical Development, Patient Advocacy, Medical Affairs, Regulatory Affairs, Market Access, Commercial, and Business Development to ensure successful launch readiness and ultimately improve outcomes for patients living with rare diseases.

This role offers a unique platform to influence patient outcomes, advance medical excellence, and make a meaningful impact at a pivotal moment for Recordati.

Key Responsibilities

Medical Affairs Plan

Define and provide input to the medical global strategy with attention to region/country focus
Detail medical affairs strategy into executable tactics and projects including congress and publication plan and manage timelines and deliverables
Responsible for establishing and updating the Scientific Platforms (scientific pilar and messaging)
Develop toolkits/ guidance, that enable country medical teams to effectively execute local medical plans and tactics in line with the global strategy
Support region/country localization of medical plans
Define the brands scientific Gap and support data generation Brand/Product

Medical Projects & Initiatives

Coordinate and manage global medical projects and scientific initiatives that support both marketed and pre‑launch pipeline products, initiating and overseeing projects that improve disease awareness, optimize diagnostic and treatment pathways, and enhance patient access to therapies
Define a Medical Communication Strategy that includes multi-channel Medical Education initiatives to advance disease awareness and product knowledge
Oversee implementation of global publication plans, medical education programs, and scientific communications, ensuring they are delivered on time and to the highest quality standards
Execute internal scientific training and ensure training material update
Step in to resolve obstacles or delays to keep projects and initiatives on schedule and on strategy
Define KPIs for each Project with aligned critical success factors

Medical Affairs support

Review and contribute to scientific content (e.g., publications, abstracts, and posters), ensuring accuracy, and alignment with strategic messages
Address/coordinate answers to medical inquiries from internal and external stakeholders, working with Pharmacovigilance and local medical information teams to ensure responses are accurate
Provide medical input and quality control for critical documents and materials, including HTA dossiers, regulatory submissions, risk/benefit assessments, and marketing materials
Reviews submitted ISS for scientific fit and merit
Support Patient Engagement and Advocacy

Scientific Events & KOL Engagement

Lead delivery of Medical Education actions and insights gathering (i.e. accountable for advisory board/roundtables)
Build strong relationships with leading healthcare professionals and experts in relevant therapeutic fields
Ensure that patient insights and external feedback are brought into the company to refine strategies

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Affiliate Alignment

Serve a Medical Affairs Operational Partner to cross-functional teams, brings understanding of clinical practice landscape, disease management, product data and patient preference; and has shared responsibility operational execution for cross-functional projects where assigned/needed
Work closely with Global Marketing and patients counterparts to integrate medical insights into brand strategies, promotional materials, and product positioning, while ensuring scientific accuracy and compliance with ethical standard
Required Education
Degree in Medicine, Pharmacy, Life Sciences or a related scientific field
Required Skills and Experience
Minimum 8 years of experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry with at least a 2-year experience in rare diseases.
Solid understanding of the drug development, data generation process and clinical research methodology
Demonstrated strength in project management, with a track record of driving multiple projects to successful completion on time and within budget
Working experience in international contexts, preferrable global ones
Proven ability to operating in a matrix environment
