About us

H Clinic is a new, remote, specialist-led medical cannabis service for adults (21 and over) with chronic pain and inflammatory conditions. We are completing CQC registration and will begin seeing patients once registration is granted.

The role

We are looking for a second consultant prescriber on the GMC Specialist Register to work alongside our lead pain consultant. You will provide cover during leave and absence, take on a share of the caseload as the service grows, and sit on our multidisciplinary team (MDT). All consultations are remote and sessions are booked around your existing commitments.

What you will do

- Assess referred patients and decide whether a cannabis-based medicinal product is clinically appropriate, within your own specialty

- Document unmet clinical need, prior treatments and informed consent

- Present new initiations to the MDT before the first prescription

- Review patients at set intervals and stop treatment where benefit is not shown

- Report adverse reactions via the Yellow Card scheme and take part in audit and governance

Essential

- Full GMC registration, licence to practise, and entry on the GMC Specialist Register (Anaesthetics, Pain Medicine, Rheumatology, Neurology or Palliative Medicine)

- Current or recent consultant experience in chronic pain

- Up to date appraisal with a designated body and Responsible Officer

- Indemnity covering remote prescribing of unlicensed medicines, or willingness to arrange it

- Enhanced DBS

Desirable

- FFPMRCA or equivalent pain qualification

- Experience prescribing cannabis-based medicinal products

- Remote consultation and e-prescribing experience

What we offer

- £150 to £175 per hour, paid on time worked, invoiced monthly

- Fully remote, flexible sessions, from around 4 hours per month

- Clear protocols, MDT support and an independent Clinical Director
