Theatre Practitioner – Anaesthetics & Recovery
Location: Northwood, Middlesex
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Hours: 37.5 hours per week (flexible shift pattern)
Salary: Up to £39,000 per annum, depending on experience, qualifications and training
About the Role
An established independent hospital in Northwood is seeking a dedicated Theatre Practitioner – Anaesthetics & Recovery to join its busy Theatre team. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a modern clinical environment delivering high-quality patient care across a varied surgical caseload.
Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will play a key role in supporting patients throughout the perioperative pathway, ensuring the highest standards of clinical care and patient safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare operating theatres in line with the planned surgical procedures.
- Assist the surgical team by preparing instruments, maintaining a sterile environment and anticipating clinical requirements.
- Support the Anaesthetist with equipment preparation, patient monitoring, airway management and patient positioning.
- Deliver high-quality post-operative recovery care, including monitoring observations, pain management and discharge readiness.
- Ensure all surgical and anaesthetic equipment is checked prior to use and report any faults promptly.
- Maintain strict adherence to infection prevention and control policies.
- Work collaboratively with surgeons, anaesthetists and the wider theatre team to ensure safe and efficient operating lists.
- Promote a positive, professional and patient-focused theatre environment.
About You
To be considered for this opportunity, you will have:
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse (NMC) or Operating Department Practitioner (HCPC).
- Previous experience or training within a theatre environment specialising in Anaesthetics, Recovery or Scrub.
- Sound knowledge of infection prevention, patient safety and manual handling principles.
- The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical setting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A strong commitment to delivering safe, high-quality patient care.
- Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail.
