Looking to move away from shift work, long hours, or hands‑on care into a more structured clinical role?

This role offers a Monday–Friday position with hybrid working, no weekends, and a predictable workload, while still using your clinical skills in a professional setting. The role is assessment and report‑writing focused within a structured, non‑acute environment.

We are recruiting registered clinicians for a hybrid Nurse Assessor / Functional Assessor role. Interviews are scheduled on a rolling basis for clinicians who meet the essential requirements.

Eligible professions (essential)

This role is open to registered clinicians from the following professional backgrounds only:

  • Nurses: RGN / RMN / RNLD
  • Physiotherapists
  • Occupational Therapists
  • Paramedics
  • Pharmacists

Applicants must hold current NMC, HCPC or GPhC registration, depending on profession.

This role is not suitable for Children’s Nurses (RSCN), ODPs, Midwives, or professions outside the list above.

Location and working pattern

Roles are available across multiple assessment centres including Fareham, Southampton, Guildford, Reading and Slough.

You will be assigned a base site based on proximity and service need. Hybrid working applies, with mandatory attendance at your allocated assessment centre.

The role

You will use your clinical expertise to complete functional assessments and produce clear, evidence‑based written reports that support benefit decision‑making.

This role does not involve hands‑on treatment, prescribing, or shift work.

Assessments are completed via:

  • Telephone
  • Video
  • Face‑to‑face (non‑clinical setting)

What you will do

  • Carry out structured functional assessments using clinical judgement
  • Review medical evidence and supporting documentation
  • Produce clear, accurate, evidence‑based written reports
  • Use active listening to understand how conditions impact daily life
  • Support individuals with empathy and professionalism
  • Liaise with other healthcare professionals where required

What you will not do

  • Make diagnoses
  • Provide treatment or prescribing
  • Carry out hands‑on clinical care
  • Work nights, weekends, or shift work
  • Make benefit eligibility decisions

What you will need

  • Current professional registration with NMC, HCPC or GPhC
  • Minimum 1 year post‑registration clinical experience
  • Confidence with report writing and structured work
  • Good IT skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and manage deadlines
  • Right to work in the UK (no sponsorship available)

Pay and benefits

  • £45,300 to £48,000 salary depending on role.
  • Approval bonus plus performance‑related bonus
  • Monday to Friday, office hours only
  • Hybrid working (not fully remote)
  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays
  • Pension contribution up to 6%
  • Fully funded training and ongoing CPD support
  • Predictable workload and structured working day

Before you apply

This role is ideal for clinicians seeking predictable hours and a better work‑life balance in a structured assessment environment.

It suits those comfortable with assessment‑based work and report writing, and who can commit to hybrid working with assessment centre attendance.
