Experienced Female Health Care Assistant – Complex Paediatric Care (Local Applicants Preferred)

Join Our Team at Spring Consult UK Ltd

Spring Consult UK Ltd is seeking Experienced Female Health Care Assistants to join our dedicated Complex Care Team, providing one-to-one support for a child with complex medical needs in their own home.

We are looking for carers who live locally to the package location or within a reasonable travelling distance, ensuring reliability and continuity of care.

This is an excellent opportunity for experienced carers who are passionate about delivering safe, compassionate, and person-centred care to children with complex healthcare needs.

About the Role

You will provide one-to-one support to a child with the following diagnoses and conditions:

  • Graft Versus Host Disease (GVHD)
  • Multi-organ transplant
  • Immunosuppression
  • Focal seizures
  • Colostomy
  • Adrenal insufficiency
  • History of prolapsed stoma
  • Bilateral cataracts
  • Reduced hearing

The child requires close observation, clinical support, and assistance with all aspects of daily living while ensuring their safety, comfort, and wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality, person-centred care in accordance with the care plan.
  • Support with personal care and daily living activities.
  • Prepare and safely administer medication following company policy and competency assessments.
  • Monitor and record fluid intake and output accurately.
  • Provide support with colostomy care.
  • Observe, monitor, and respond appropriately to seizures.
  • Follow the emergency care plan for adrenal insufficiency.
  • Provide Central Line care following training and competency assessment.
  • Maintain excellent infection prevention and control practices due to the child's immunosuppressed condition.
  • Monitor skin integrity and support the management of Graft Versus Host Disease (GVHD).
  • Accurately complete care documentation and report any concerns promptly.
  • Work closely with the family and multidisciplinary healthcare professionals.
  • Follow safeguarding procedures, risk assessments, and company policies at all times.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is professional in both their manner and actions.
  • Is kind, compassionate, patient, and understanding towards the child and their family.
  • Has experience supporting children or individuals with complex healthcare needs.
  • Is confident in preparing and administering medication safely.
  • Knows exactly how to respond in an emergency and can remain calm under pressure.
  • Is vigilant and continuously monitors the child's wellbeing throughout the shift.
  • Regularly observes for signs of illness or deterioration.
  • Carefully monitors fluid intake, nutrition, output, and overall welfare.
  • Understands the importance of infection prevention and maintaining a safe environment.
  • Speaks clear and fluent English with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Can build a positive, trusting, and professional relationship with the child and family.
  • Is reliable, punctual, and committed to providing outstanding care.

Essential Experience

Experience in any of the following would be an advantage:
