Scientist (Antibody Conjugation)

Cambridge, UK

12 month FTC

Onsite – Full time

Up to £45,000-£50,000 depending on experience.

Our client are a specialist life science organisation who develop, manufacture and sell kits and tools for use in research. A large part of their portfolio involves antibody conjugation technologies.

As a Scientist (12month fixed-term contract), you will be working in a wider team, developing new (and improving existing) antibody conjugation technologies and transferring the technology over to the manufacturing teams.

You will be instrumental in developing a new product portfolio involving dyes and tags for use within flow cytometry.

Main responsibilities:

  • Working on antibody conjugation technology development projects, performing the antibody conjugations using new methods and testing their effectiveness.
  • A large part of the role will involve sourcing new suppliers for suitable dyes and tags for use within the development. You'll do this from a technical focus, not a price negotiation focus!
  • Leading developments projects for conjugations products including reagents. As part of this, you will write SOPs, risk assessments and will validate the products
  • Supporting the analysis of antibody conjugations using HPLC, AKTA purification and spectroscopy.
  • Supporting the transfer of product development projects to downstream manufacturing teams (including writing BMRs)
  • Maintaining internal regulations and ISO9001

The Ideal Candidate:

  • BSc / MSc / PhD (preferred) in a life science discipline (essential)
  • Proven post-graduate experience working in industry in a relevant scientific role, acting as a senior member, or leading on projects (essential - 2+ years for PhD holders, 5+ years for BSc/MSc)
  • Expertise in working with complex bioconjugation / antibody conjugation and analysis of conjugates (essential)
  • Experience in HPLC, FPLC (AKTA systems) for protein purification (desirable)
  • Knowledge of end-point assays which use antibody conjugates (ELISA, flow cytometry, immunocytochemistry etc) (essential)
  • Experience in delivering complex projects on time and to a high standard (essential)
  • Must have right to work in the UK for at least the duration of the contract
