Job summary

An exciting opportunity has presented at our Dispensing branch site at Youlgreave to join our Dispensary team as a trainee on a 12-month fixed term contract.

The successful applicant will be put through an NVQ Level 2 in Dispensing Services, learning how to issue and make up patient medications under the supervision of our experienced Dispensary Team and Practice GPs.

Alongside the work and study for the NVQ, applicants will learn reception and administration skills to deliver excellent patient service supporting the day to day effective & efficient running of the branch surgeries.

The successful candidate would work predominantly at Youlgrave Surgery, however, there may be occasions that cover is required at Winster Surgery and Darley Dale Medical Centre.

Main duties of the job

Overview of Dispensing/Reception Duties:

  • Undertake and complete NVQ Level 2 in Dispensing: Work towards the achievement of this qualification. This will include assisting in the preparation of all aspects of dispensing; preparing medication, stock control and ordering for the dispensary.
  • Reception desk: All patient facing enquiries
  • Telephony: Patient prescription enquiries
  • Workflow: Managing clinical requests
  • Prescriptions: Dispensing/Checking & enquiries
  • Reception Administration: Patient visits allocation, email management and support to both clinical & non-clinical staff

Job responsibilities

We are looking for a hard-working individual prepared to work towards the achievement of an NVQ 2 in Dispensing services.

Our Dispensaries at Winster and Youlgrave are busy and demanding environments, and we are looking to add to our friendly team with an enthusiastic team member.

The right person will be able to carry out a range of dispensing and reception tasks in relation to the day-to-day running of the practices dispensing and reception area.

The starting salary is based on a trainee position.

Skills required are:

  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Good organisational skills with attention to detail
  • Accuracy
  • Excellent team working and communication skills
  • Good level of professionalism and the ability to communicate with patients by telephone and face-to-face.
