About us

The Centre for Reproductive Immunology & Pregnancy Clinic is a specialist centre dedicated to the care of women and couples experiencing fertility problems, recurrent miscarriage and complex reproductive health challenges.

Patients travel to us from across the UK and internationally because of the specialist care provided by Professor Shehata and our experienced clinical team.

Our work sits at the forefront of reproductive immunology and recurrent miscarriage care. It is a fascinating and evolving area of medicine, and joining our team offers the opportunity to learn about treatments and approaches that you may not encounter in a conventional fertility or hospital setting.

Most importantly, our patients often come to us after long and incredibly difficult fertility journeys. They may have experienced repeated miscarriages, unsuccessful fertility treatment or years of uncertainty and disappointment.

That means the care we provide is about much more than clinical treatment.

It is about listening, supporting, reassuring and being there for patients throughout their journey.

We are fortunate to see many patients go on to achieve and sustain a healthy pregnancy following their personalised treatment plans, making this an incredibly rewarding area in which to work.

About the role

This is a varied and hands-on clinical role within our specialist fertility and miscarriage service.

You will become an important part of the patient's journey, often developing a close relationship with them from their initial assessment through treatment and pregnancy.

Your role will include caring for patients with recurrent miscarriage and fertility difficulties, supporting those undergoing fertility treatment, coordinating aspects of their care and providing ongoing clinical advice and reassurance.

There will also be opportunities to develop your knowledge and experience in gynaecology, women's health and relevant clinical/theatre procedures.

We are particularly interested in nurses or midwives who have experience in gynaecology, early pregnancy, fertility, miscarriage or theatre, although we recognise that the right person may come from a different clinical background and have a strong desire to learn.

Theatre experience is desirable, but this is not a theatre-only role. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to become involved across the wider service, making this a varied position rather than a single-specialty role.

What we are looking for

We are looking for an experienced Nurse or Midwife who is:

• NMC registered and able to practise in the UK
• Ideally has at least 2 years' post-registration experience
• Experienced in, or genuinely interested in developing within, gynaecology, fertility, recurrent miscarriage, early pregnancy or theatre
• Confident communicating with patients face-to-face, by telephone and electronically
• Highly organised, attentive to detail and able to work independently and well within a team
• Compassionate and emotionally intelligent
• Comfortable caring for patients who may be anxious, distressed or have experienced previous pregnancy loss
• Enthusiastic about learning and developing specialist knowledge
• A positive team player who takes pride in providing an exceptional standard of care

Working pattern & benefits

• Full-time, permanent position
• Flexible working pattern: 4 long days or 5 shorter days
• Occasional overtime, weekend and on-call duties may be required
• 25 days' annual leave + bank holidays
