The University Medical Group is a fast growing, forward thinking and progressive GP practice (rated Outstanding by CQC) with over 32,000 patients and we are looking to recruit a meticulous and detail-oriented Clinical Coder to join our team

This is an opportunity for a highly self-motivated, 'can-do' individual. If you are able to work on your own initiative as well as communicate effectively in a team and enjoy working in a fast paced, busy environment, this may be the role for you.

Working Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, 09:00 - 17:00 (37.5 hours per week) (salary dependent upon experience).

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in accurately assigning medical codes to patient records.

This role is based at the University Medical practice. There is no option to work from home.

Duties:

  • Assessing risk using clinical judgement triaging letters from secondary care providers and other medical professionals.
  • Process patient related correspondence received from healthcare providers and update information on the clinical record.
  • Assist with the completion of medical/insurance forms, MCFs. These will subsequently be reviewed and signed off by a GP
  • Summarisation and coding of MREs and GP2GP notes
  • Review medical records and remove third party references as per protocols
  • Action tasks as required
  • Any other delegated duties considered appropriate to the post as required

Skills:
The ideal candidate should possess the following skills:

- Clinical background with experience working in NHS or other medical providers

- Strong understanding of medical terminology

- Proficiency within IT

- Attention to detail

- Excellent time management skills

- Administrative competence to handle coding tasks efficiently

- Effective communication skills to liaise with healthcare professionals

- Organisational abilities to manage coding assignments effectively
