Summary

We are seeking a Senior Coder to join our team in Nottingham. Based in the UK, this role is vital in ensuring accurate medical coding and supporting the delivery of high-quality healthcare services within the NHS. As a Senior Coder, you will contribute to our mission of facilitating efficient healthcare operations and improving patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately assign clinical codes using ICD-10 and OPCS-4 classifications in line with NHS Digital standards
  • Independently code complex patient records across multiple acute specialties
  • Ensure timely completion of coding to meet Trust deadlines and performance targets
  • Validate and audit coded data to maintain data quality and consistency
  • Work closely with clinicians and departments to clarify documentation where required
  • Support junior coders and contribute to coding quality improvements where applicable
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of national coding standards and guidance

Essential Requirements

  • ACC (Accredited Clinical Coder) qualification – mandatory
  • Proven experience working within an NHS Acute Trust setting
  • Strong expertise in coding across multiple specialties such as:
  • General Medicine
  • Surgery
  • Orthopaedics
  • Cardiology
  • Emergency Care
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
  • Strong understanding of ICD-10 and OPCS-4 classifications
