Full job description

About us

We turn complex mobility data into clear, evidence-based decisions for the people running the UK's transport networks.

We do this by building data infrastructure that processes data from multiple sources (including road cameras, sensors etc), and uses AI to make smart recommendations. This helps cities and transport authorities help people move around travel networks easier and faster. Our platform addresses challenges related to things like bus network improvements, roadworks planning, highways monitoring - and modelling what-if scenarios.

About the role

We’re an energetic and driven 15-person start-up making an impact in the transport infrastructure space. You’ll join a team of talented software and ML engineers - to help drive the design and delivery of core product areas, taking complex mobility data and turning it into tools that transport planners actually want to use.

How we work

  • We don't just pick up the next ticket. We talk directly to users to understand the value behind the work, and push back when something doesn't make sense.
  • We collaborate with product. Engineers shape what gets built, not just how it gets built.
  • We're excited about AI coding. Tools like Claude and Cursor are part of how we build - we want people who lean into that and help us get better at it.
  • Small team, real ownership. You'll see your work in front of customers in days or weeks, not quarters.

What you'll build

  • Data pipelines that ingest, process and enrich real-world mobility data at scale
  • Onboarding flows and tooling that help customers get up and running with our products
  • Mobility data visualisations and geospatial analysis tools that make complex data accessible to transport planners
  • Integrations with ML products that surface insights in ways customers can act on

Who you are

  • A software engineer who can design, build, and ship - comfortable across the stack, with a product-engineering bias
  • Have 4+ years of experience building software that real users depend on
  • You have deep product instincts - you've shaped what gets built, not just how
  • You understand agentic AI coding practices and how to leverage tools like Cursor and Claude effectively in a collaborative team
  • You're ownership-driven and mission-focused
  • Enjoy working closely with end users and shaping 0→1 products

Bonus points

  • Experience with data platforms, geospatial data, or transport/mobility
  • Prior work on LLM tools, agents, or retrieval systems
  • Familiarity with our stack: React, TypeScript, Python, FastAPI, Dagster, dbt, Snowflake

Pay: £75,000.00-£85,000.00 per year

Benefits:

  • Company pension
  • Employee stock ownership plan
  • Private medical insurance

Application question(s):

  • We're mainly remote but work in person at least once a month. Are you able to travel to London, Cambridge or Bristol?
  • In a few words, what interests you about this role?

Experience:

  • full-stack software engineering: 4 years (required)

Work Location: Remote
