Join WSP and shape better outcomes for communities

At WSP, we believe that meaningful engagement helps create better projects, stronger communities and more sustainable outcomes. As one of the world's leading professional services firms, we're committed to making a positive impact through the work we do across infrastructure, water, energy, environment and development projects.

We're looking for an enthusiastic and proactive Engagement Consultant to join our growing UK Engagement team. This is an exciting opportunity to work on some of the UK's most significant infrastructure and development projects, helping clients build trusted relationships with communities and stakeholders.

The Role

As an Engagement Consultant, you'll play a key role in delivering stakeholder engagement, public consultation and communication programmes across a diverse portfolio of projects. Working alongside experienced engagement specialists, you'll help clients communicate effectively, gather valuable feedback and support informed decision-making.

This role offers the opportunity to act as a trusted advisor while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams across WSP to deliver high-quality engagement and communications activities.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Creating clear, engaging and accessible communications that help communities and stakeholders understand projects and potential impacts.
  • Supporting the delivery of public consultations, stakeholder engagement programmes and community relations initiatives.
  • Organising and coordinating engagement activities, including events, exhibitions, workshops, webinars and surveys.
  • Analysing consultation feedback and stakeholder insights, identifying key themes and presenting findings through reports and recommendations.
  • Developing engagement materials such as websites, virtual consultation platforms, brochures, fact sheets, posters, banners and public-facing maps.
  • Providing communications and engagement support to projects across the UK and internationally.
  • Working closely with project teams to ensure engagement activities are delivered effectively, on time and within budget.
  • Contributing to the development of engagement strategies, plans and reporting.

About the Team

You'll join a collaborative UK-wide team of more than 40 communications and engagement professionals who are passionate about delivering meaningful engagement that makes a difference.

Reporting to the Regional Engagement Team Lead, you'll work in a supportive environment that encourages professional development, knowledge sharing and career progression. We offer flexible and hybrid working arrangements, combining office collaboration with home working.

What We're Looking For

Essential

  • Degree-qualified, or equivalent experience within communications, engagement, consultation, public affairs or a related field.
  • Strong written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex information into clear, plain-English content.
  • Experience producing communication materials such as newsletters, websites, fact sheets, brochures or stakeholder updates.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • A collaborative approach and the confidence to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrable experience in communications, engagement or stakeholder management.

Desirable

  • Experience within infrastructure, transport, utilities, water, environment or energy sectors.
  • Experience supporting the development of engagement strategies, consultation programmes and reporting.
  • Experience managing the production process for communication materials, including design and print coordination.
  • Experience planning and delivering both virtual and face-to-face engagement events.
  • Membership of a relevant professional body.

The Consultancy hierarchy structure:

Assistant Consultant
  • Consultant Senior Consultant Principal Consultant Associate Associate Director Technical Director Director

Why Join WSP?

  • Work on high-profile projects that shape local communities and national infrastructure.
  • Be part of a growing, highly respected engagement team.
  • Access excellent learning, development and career progression opportunities.
  • Enjoy flexible and hybrid working arrangements.
  • Join a business committed to sustainability, inclusion and making a positive impact.

If you're passionate about communication, stakeholder engagement and helping communities have a voice in the projects that affect them, we'd love to hear from you.

Imagine a better future for you and a better future for us all.

Work on landmark projects around the world and embrace opportunities to make an even bigger impact in the communities you care about. What if you could do the best work of your life and create a legacy for yourself?
