Clerk of Works – Luxury Leisure & Hospitality New Build Project

Join a Landmark Luxury Development

We are seeking an exceptional Clerk of Works to join our team on a prestigious new-build leisure and hospitality development. This is a rare opportunity to play a key role in delivering a high-profile, luxury project where quality, craftsmanship, and attention to detail are paramount.

The successful candidate will have a strong project management and/or engineering background, combined with extensive experience working on construction sites overseeing quality standards. You will be passionate about achieving excellence and ensuring every element of the build is delivered to the highest specification.

The Role

As Clerk of Works, you will act as the client’s eyes and ears on site, ensuring that all construction work meets the required design, specification, regulatory standards, and exceptional quality expectations associated with a luxury development.

Working closely with the Project Management team, contractors, consultants, and subcontractors, you will monitor workmanship, identify issues before they become problems, and drive quality throughout every phase of the project.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect construction works to ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, building regulations, and industry best practice.
  • Monitor workmanship and materials, ensuring the highest standards of quality are consistently achieved.
  • Carry out regular site inspections and produce detailed inspection reports.
  • Identify defects, non-conformances, and quality issues, ensuring corrective actions are implemented promptly.
  • Liaise with project managers, consultants, contractors, and specialist subcontractors.
  • Verify that works are completed in accordance with programme milestones and quality requirements.
  • Maintain comprehensive site records, photographs, and inspection documentation.
  • Attend project meetings and provide technical advice relating to construction quality.
  • Champion a culture of quality, professionalism, and continuous improvement across the project team.

About You

You will be an experienced construction professional who takes pride in delivering outstanding quality and has a meticulous eye for detail.

Essential Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Clerk of Works, Site Quality Manager, Site Inspector, or similar quality assurance role.
  • Strong background in Project Management, Engineering, or a related construction discipline.
  • Significant experience working on live construction sites.
  • Demonstrable experience delivering high-end luxury developments, ideally within hospitality, leisure, hotels, premium residential, or similarly prestigious projects.
  • Excellent knowledge of construction methods, building regulations, and quality standards.
  • Strong reporting and documentation skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Ability to confidently challenge poor workmanship and ensure quality expectations are met.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Desirable

  • Professional membership with ICWCI, CIOB, RICS, ICE, or similar.
  • HNC/HND or Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Building Surveying, or equivalent.
  • Experience on luxury hotel, resort, spa, or leisure developments.
  • SMSTS, CSCS, or equivalent site certification.

What We Offer

  • Opportunity to work on a flagship luxury leisure and hospitality development.
  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
  • Collaborative, professional project environment.
  • Long-term career development opportunities.
  • The chance to influence the delivery of an exceptional, high-quality project from start to finish.
