Could your ability to make complex science accessible help more people understand the difference dementia research can make?

As our Research Information Officer, you’ll help bring Alzheimer’s Society’s research to life. You’ll turn complex scientific information into clear, engaging content for supporters, donors and the public.

You’ll join our Research Information team within Research Communications and work closely with colleagues across Research and Innovation and Income and Engagement. Your work will support fundraising, donor engagement and communication of our research.

Do you enjoy finding the story behind the science and bringing it to life for people who aren’t scientists?

You’ll create content for a range of audiences and channels, supporting fundraising proposals, appeals, donor updates, research communications and events. You may also represent Alzheimer’s Society at conferences, donor meetings and research events.

You’ll work across a varied portfolio, build your knowledge of dementia research and develop relationships across the Society.

What you’ll do

You’ll play an important role in making our research clear, engaging and accessible. You’ll:

• Create content that translates scientific research into clear information for non-scientific audiences.
• Support fundraising teams with research information for proposals, appeals, donor updates and stewardship.
• Maintain an up-to-date repository of research information for colleagues across Income and Engagement.
• Keep up to date with Alzheimer’s Society research and developments across the wider dementia research field.
• Support research communications plans and share content across internal and external channels.
• Represent our research at meetings with donors, legators, trusts, corporates and key events.
• Support research engagements, including conferences, donor events, lab visits and research talks.
• Coordinate content and projects across teams, making sure information is accurate and delivered on time.

About you

Are you someone who can take complex scientific information and make it clear and relevant to others?

You’ll have experience of writing about scientific content for non-scientific audiences and translating complex research into accessible language without losing its accuracy.

You’ll ideally have a degree in a relevant biomedical or health discipline, or equivalent relevant experience. You’ll have a genuine interest in science and research, with an appetite to keep learning about dementia.

Do you enjoy having several things on the go and finding a way to keep everything moving?

You’ll be organised and proactive, able to manage multiple projects while meeting agreed standards and deadlines. You’ll also be comfortable adapting your approach when priorities or circumstances change.

• Have a degree in a relevant biomedical or health discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.

• Communicate confidently with different audiences and build credibility when representing research.
