Pharmacy Assistant / Dispensary Technician – Barton Hill Pharmacy

Barton Hill Pharmacy is looking for a reliable, Pharmacy Assistant or Dispensary Technician to join our team.

We are an independent pharmacy aiming on maintaining a high standard of service and operational efficiency. We aren't a high-volume chain with endless layers of management; we are a straightforward, independent site where the work is focused on accuracy, patient safety, and keeping the dispensary running smoothly.

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Pharmacy Assistant/Dispensary Technician to join our healthcare team. This role involves supporting pharmacists in dispensing medications, providing excellent patient care, and ensuring the smooth operation of the pharmacy. The successful candidate will have a strong focus on accuracy, patient safety, and efficient service delivery. Prior experience as a pharmacy technician is desirable, along with a commitment to maintaining high standards of confidentiality and professionalism.

Responsibilities

  • Assist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing prescribed medications accurately and efficiently
  • Manage medication inventory, including stock checks and reordering as necessary
  • Provide guidance to patients on medication usage and answer basic queries under supervision
  • Support with medication administration procedures where appropriate and authorised
  • Maintain clear and organised records of prescriptions and patient information in compliance with legal and organisational standards
  • Ensure the pharmacy environment adheres to health and safety regulations at all times
  • Support administrative tasks such as processing prescriptions, billing, and data entry
  • Uphold patient confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a pharmacy technician or assistant is preferred
  • Knowledge of medication administration processes and pharmacy operations
  • Strong organisational skills with attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients and healthcare professionals
  • Ability to work accurately under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • A recognised qualification in pharmacy assistance or related field is advantageous
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and learning within the healthcare sector
