About Our Client

My client is a prestigious engineering company based in Newcastle. They design and manufacture a wide range of complex technical solutions for a range of high-end organisations, both across the UK and internationally.With a desire to expand into a new market, and following a period of sustained growth as a wider group, this company is now looking for both Electronics and Mechanical Design Engineers to add value to their existing team. These roles will be support all new product development, product improvement and prototyping to help launch this new range to market.


Job Description

The Electronics Design Engineer will be responsible for NPD and NPI to enable this business to bring a fantastic new product to market.Day to day responsibilities will include:

  • Lead on end-to-end NPD projects, from concept generation through to manufacture.
  • Design and develop electromechanical products using CAD, supported by FEA.
  • Respond to legislative and regulatory changes by driving product updates and redesigns.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams including manufacturing and supply chain.
  • Support product management activity across new and existing product lines.
  • Ensure designs are optimised for manufacture across a range of processes.
  • Contribute to the development of new technologies and product innovation strategies.

The Successful Applicant

Successful candidates will have a strong electronics design background and a proven ability in NPI / NPD.You will be an experienced Design Engineer and possess:

  • A solid foundation in core design engineering principles
  • A strong background in NPI / NPD processes
  • Proven experience in electromechanical product design.
  • Working knowledge of using CAD, with exposure to simulation tools such as FEA.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and design for manufacture.
  • Commercially aware, with an understanding of product lifecycle and product management.
  • Proactive and motivated, ideally looking for a fresh challenge in a highly innovative environment.
  • Suitable for both mid-level engineers and more senior individuals (with potential to support junior hires).
