IT & Systems Manager
Genco UK Group Limited is a reliable contractor who provides Reactive planned and preventative Maintenance Services within the retail sector. We are a fast-paced Company and rapidly growing and expanding our area coverage. We are currently seeking a new IT Systems Manager to join our Company.
Summary
As an IT & Systems Manager you will be accountable for the overall management, security, and day-to-day operation of all IT systems within the business. You will ensure the availability, performance, and security of infrastructure, while working within the limits of requirements, specifications, and costs.
You will act as the primary IT lead, liaising with the Company’s IT Support provider, Consultant, external vendors, and internal stakeholders to maintain a secure, efficient, and scalable IT environment.
This is a hands-on role where the IT & Systems Manager acts as the first line of support for all IT-related issues across the business, ranging from basic user support (e.g. hardware issues, printers, desk setups) through to system management, implementation, and strategic improvements.
This role is responsible for driving continuous improvement, supporting business systems, and leading the digitalisation of the Company through modern technologies and best practices.
PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS A OFFICE BASED ROLE. NO REMOTE WORKING.
The main list of duties are as below (this list is not exhaustive):
· Deal with and identify all daily IT and telecommunication issues for staff (internal and external), acting as the first point of contact and ensuring timely resolution
· Provide hands-on technical support across hardware, software, networking, and cloud platforms
· Proactively monitor systems to ensure availability, performance, and reliability
· Maintain accurate IT asset logs including devices, serial numbers, users, and configurations
· Maintain IT documentation, system configurations, and knowledge guides
· Administer and optimise Microsoft 365 environment (Exchange, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive)
· Manage user identities and access via Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), ensuring appropriate permissions and controls
· Manage licences for users, ensuring cost effectiveness and compliance
· Implement and maintain security controls including MFA, Conditional Access, and Zero Trust principles
· Monitor and respond to IT security threats, including spam filtering and email security
· Ensure the Company remains secure and maintain Cyber Essentials (or equivalent) accreditation
· Support data protection and compliance requirements
· Manage endpoint devices using appropriate tools (e.g. Intune), including setup, configuration, updates, and security
· Carry out full setup of new starters across all IT systems, including accounts, devices, and access permissions
· Manage onboarding and offboarding processes for system access
· Coordinate and carry out office moves, desk setups, and IT equipment relocations, ensuring all hardware, connectivity, and system access requirements are met
· Maintain phone systems and telephony platforms, including configuration and user setup
· Manage SIM cards, mobile devices, and service plans ensuring cost control
· Maintain infrastructure including servers, networking, firewalls, and server room environment (CCTV, air conditioning, cabling)
· Support backup processes, disaster recovery planning, and business continuity
· Support and maintain business systems including accounting and job management platforms (e.g. Sage 50, JobFlow)
· Work with internal departments to ensure system availability, integrity, and performance
· Liaise with external IT providers, ensuring service levels and contractual obligations are met
· Manage suppliers and vendors, ensuring services are cost effective and fit for purpose
· Procure IT equipment, software, and licences in line with business needs
· Lead IT projects, system upgrades, and continuous improvement initiatives
· Drive digital transformation and adoption of new technologies, including AI where appropriate
· Identify opportunities for automation and efficiency improvements across the business
· Prepare IT documentation for audits, tenders, and insurance requirements
· Deliver training, guidance, and ‘How To’ materials to staff on Company systems and applications
· Promote good IT practices and cybersecurity awareness across the business
Essentials
· Proven experience in a hands-on IT Manager or senior IT role, with responsibility for first-line through to third-line support
· Willingness and ability to undertake day-to-day operational IT tasks, including direct user support and issue resolution
· Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365, Azure AD (Entra ID), and cloud technologies
· Strong knowledge of implementing SharePoint migration
· Experience with endpoint/device management and IT security practices
· Strong understanding of infrastructure, networking, and IT systems
· Ability to manage third-party providers and suppliers
· Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
· Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure
· Good communication skills across all levels of the business

Salary wage bracket - £32,500 - £40,000 – Depending on experience and knowledge
