Full job description
Maxwell Consultancy is working exclusively with a Tier 1 supplier to the aerospace and defence sectors in their search for a Senior Quality Engineer. This is a pivotal position within the organisation, offering excellent career progression opportunities for the right candidate.
The company continues to go from strength to strength, with a growing portfolio of contracts across the business, supplying critical components to the aerospace and defence industries.
Purpose of the Role:
As a Quality Engineer, you will support the business in ensuring compliance with customer, regulatory, and internal requirements. You will be responsible for supporting all quality-related activities across current and new parts, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and working collaboratively with internal teams and customers to improve Quality, Cost, and Delivery performance.
Reporting To
Quality Manager, Glasgow site
Key Responsibilities:
- Audit: conduct internal audit to the required standards (e.g. AS9100, NADCAP), support/host external audit and customer visits, complete/support non-conformance reports and implementation of corrective actions
- Workshop Support: Lead MRB activity, Drawing/Standard interpretation and disposition, maintenance/update of route cards and supporting documentation
- Supplier Quality: Support supplier audit and surveillance, raising of complaints, supplier communication, update of Approved Supplier List, supplier selection process
- NPI: Responsible for all quality aspects of New Product Introduction including use of appropriate tools where required (e.g. PPAP, FMEA, APQP), production of First Article Inspection Reports, customer communication, resolution of issues, creation of route cards and supporting documentation
- Actively contribute to the site Lean Operating System through participation in tiered accountability meetings, performance boards, and continuous improvement activities.
- Support identification and removal of operational constraints impacting quality, delivery, and manufacturing flow.
- Monitor and analyse quality KPIs including COPQ, NCR trends, scrap, rework, and RFT to support business improvement priorities.
- Demonstrate a continuous improvement mindset with the ability to facilitate cross-functional problem-solving and drive sustainable change.
- Ability to identify root cause and effective corrective action using quality tools and ensuring cross functional engagement
- Customer Complaint Resolution: Responsible for all aspects of complaint resolution including customer/internal communication, root cause analysis (8D) & corrective action implementation
- Process Improvement: conduct data analysis, support selection of improvement activities, lead and support application of appropriate improvement toolset (e.g. Lean Six Sigma, RCA etc)
- QMS: Support the management and update of the company Quality Management System. Ensure all business activities are conducted in accordance with the QMS
Skills & Attributes:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills – able to communicate at all levels both internally and externally
- Application of root cause analysis tools with the ability to identify root cause and effective corrective actions
- Accountability and Integrity by upholding standards, taking ownership of issues and outcomes.

Qualifications / Experience:
- Degree level qualification in an engineering/quality discipline or relevant experience
- Experience within defence/aerospace manufacturing is preferred#
