Role Overview

The Clinical Director will work strategically and collaboratively to create an environment of continuous listening and learning that enhances skills, expertise, services models, and most importantly the outcomes that we deliver to the people we support.

Leading our developing multidisciplinary team, the clinical director will develop strategy, frameworks and oversee clinical governance ensuring we deliver consistent and reliable support that meets and exceeds regulatory requirements and clinical standards.

We are passionate about supporting people to flourish in a place they call home and the Clinical Director will focus on developing sector leading approaches and quality of life outcomes measures that enable us to improve our service models, capabilities and people’s experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide inspiring clinical leadership across the organisation, setting a clear vision for safe, high-quality, person-centred support that improves health, wellbeing and quality of life.

• Champion co-production by actively involving the people we support, families and advocates in shaping clinical priorities, service design, improvement activity and decision-making.

• Lead and support our developing multidisciplinary teams, creating a confident, accountable and collaborative culture where people can do their best work.

• Drive clinical excellence through evidence-based practice, reflective learning, professional standards and continuous improvement.

• Oversee key clinical governance arrangements, including clinical risk, medication management, infection prevention and control, restrictive practice, mental capacity and specialist clinical policies.

• Use insight from incidents, complaints, audits, safeguarding, regulatory feedback and the voices of people we support to identify themes, reduce risk and embed meaningful learning.

• Lead service improvement, transformation and innovation programmes that deliver practical, sustainable change and better outcomes for the people we support.

• Provide expert clinical advice to operational leaders and the Executive Team, ensuring clinical priorities are aligned with organisational strategy, quality expectations and regulatory requirements.

• Strengthen regulatory readiness and assurance for CQC, CIW and other external bodies, promoting a culture of confident compliance and continuous learning.

• Shape workforce planning, recruitment, retention and clinical leadership development, ensuring services have the right skills, capability and confidence to meet people’s needs.

• Promote a positive, inclusive and learning-focused culture where colleagues feel engaged, supported and empowered to challenge, innovate and improve.

• Monitor clinical performance, outcomes and quality indicators, taking action where needed to improve safety, effectiveness, experience and value for money.

• Lead clinical governance forums and report to the boards Quality committee

• Ensure resources are used effectively and responsibly, supporting sustainable services without compromising quality, safety or the ambitions of the people we support.

• Represent the organisation with credibility and passion, acting as a visible clinical leader and advocate for excellent, compassionate and co-produced support.

Person Specification:

Essential

• Proven experience in a leadership / management role within the health social care sector.

• Registered clinician, current registration with relevant professional regulatory body

• Significant senior clinical leadership experience within adult social care, healthcare or specialist services.

• Extensive experience supporting people with learning disabilities, autism and complex needs.

• Proven experience leading, developing and performance managing multidisciplinary teams.

• Strong knowledge of clinical governance, risk management, quality improvement and regulatory compliance.

• Excellent leadership, communication and influencing skills, with the confidence to uphold high clinical standards and drive improvement across services.

• Demonstrable ability to build strong relationships with operational leaders, clinicians, people we support and their families to improve outcomes and service quality.
