Full job description
Right across infrastructure, there’s a requirement to not only maintain, but also renew and reimagine. Whatever stage you’re at in your career; with us you’ll have an opportunity to grow and develop. Delivering essential infrastructure services for life, while being safety first, and client and customer centric in a friendly, fun and respectful environment where you are encouraged to thrive.
Where will you be working?
At M Group Telecom, we’re enabling and enhancing telecom networks, playing a lead role in the delivery of our tech enabled future.
We deliver full network cycle services for fixed, private and mobile operators.
Private networks- We find the best technology, manage assets and refresh systems. With 24/7 network operations, we keep things running smoothly, while operating comprehensive network repair and maintenance to keep everything in top shape.
Want to come and be a part of it?
As a Mechanical & Electrical Engineer, you’ll play a key role in maintaining and enhancing our critical private telecom infrastructure. This role is primarily remote, with regular travel expected across the UK to support sites and projects as required. You’ll work across complex live environments, collaborating with engineering and project teams to keep the network resilient and future‑ready. We’ll rely on you to lead during incidents and drive continuous improvement activity. You will be required to participate in a fortnightly on-call rota to provide out-of-hours support. Please also note that this role is primarily remote rather than hands-on.
What will you be doing?
You’ll act as our third‑line technical escalation point, stepping in when complex mechanical and electrical incidents impact live private telecom networks. We’ll rely on you to take full ownership of high‑impact and non‑standard faults, leading them through to complete resolution while driving thorough root cause analysis for major incidents. Working with deep expertise across AC/DC power systems, UPS, generators, HVAC and associated controls, you’ll help us design, review and continuously improve the mechanical and electrical infrastructure that underpins our networks — from data centres to street cabinets. Together, we’ll ensure our estate remains resilient, compliant and scalable for the demands of today and the growth of tomorrow.
You’ll work closely with project teams, field engineers and third‑party partners on upgrades, refreshes and technical remediation, while also supporting and mentoring first‑ and second‑line NOC engineers to raise overall capability across the business. We’ll count on you to develop and optimise monitoring through PMS, EMS and BMS platforms, contribute to technical standards and documentation, and proactively identify risks and opportunities for continuous improvement across the estate — helping us build a smarter, stronger and more reliable network.
What you’ll bring?
- You’ll bring a strong understanding of telecom power systems, including AC/DC power, rectifiers and inverters, helping us keep critical infrastructure stable and resilient.
- You’ll have hands‑on experience with AC and AHU systems, generator systems and a range of cooling technologies, ensuring environments are optimised for always‑on networks.
- You’ll combine strong problem‑solving and analytical abilities with solid project management skills, allowing us to plan, deliver and resolve complex technical challenges effectively.
- You’ll be comfortable working with PMS, EMS and BMS platforms, helping us proactively monitor, control and optimise our estate.
- You’ll have proven UPS experience, supporting continuity of service across critical network and data environments.
- You’ll come with a background in mechanical and/or electrical engineering, ideally within telecommunications, data centres or power distribution, enabling us to operate at scale with confidence.
What’s in it for you?
We offer a range of benefits designed to support your life in and out of work, some of which include.
- Matched or contributory pension scheme
- Online GP service, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year
- Employee assistance programme
