Thales - System Integration & Test - 12 month Internship (Cheadle)
Within the Maritime Mission Systems domain at Thales UK the Systems Integration and Test (SI&T) organisation play a key role in supporting the development, design proving, installation, integration and acceptance activities associated with maritime sensor technologies and combat system integration on Royal Naval ships, submarines and aircraft. Building on 50 years of experience in undersea warfare, Thales is now a global leader in underwater systems and the world’s top exporter of sonars and related systems for naval forces.
During this internship you will be embedded in a project test team working on deliverable contracts. You will experience all aspects of the project lifecycle (from design to delivery) while gradually building knowledge which will enable you to undertake the following key responsibilities.
Key responsibilities
- Support the Integration, Verification, Validation and Qualification activities required to introduce MMS system solutions into service.
- Work as a member of a test team to deliver high quality, robust hardware and software solutions that meets customer requirements, on time and within budget.
- Develop test strategies, write associated test procedures and conduct and document test results.
- Support our systems by working with customer support functions to ensure that currently deployed hardware and software products are maintained on both land and at sea.
- Support the execution of development and integration de-risking activities in support of MMS programs and the introduction of new technologies.
Skills, qualifications and experience
- You will be studying for a degree in a relevant engineering discipline
i.e. electronic engineering, computer science, systems engineering etc.
- An understanding of Integration, Verification, Validation & Qualification (IVVQ)
- A desire to learn about the Systems Engineering Lifecycle
- An ability to understand complex systems
- A methodical and structured approach to problem investigation
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- An ability to work as a key member of the team
- A desire to take responsibility for your professional development
