The Role

We are seeking a proactive and technically minded Junior Product Development engineer to support the product development team in the design, chassis development, overclock development and integration of new features varying from software to hardware into both existing and future products.

This is a hands-on engineering role involving product design using CAD, creating and reviewing technical drawings, prototype development, product testing, technical troubleshooting, and evaluating practical engineering solutions to real-world challenges. The successful candidate will be encouraged to think creatively, contribute innovative ideas, and collaborate across departments to enhance product performance, reliability, manufacturability, and overall product quality.

A key aspect of the role is producing clear technical documentation, ensuring that solutions can be effectively implemented by customers and seamlessly transferred into our manufacturing and production processes.

Key Responsibilities

Product Development & Technical Support

• Support the Product Development Team with the design (CAD), development, testing, and validation of existing and future products.
• Investigate technical issues raised by production, manufacturing, or customers, determining root causes and either implementing a solution or escalating where appropriate.
• Assist with troubleshooting hardware, firmware, and product integration issues throughout the product lifecycle.
• Provide day-to-day engineering support to the Product Development Team Leader across multiple concurrent projects.

Product Testing & Validation

• Perform hardware testing, benchmarking, performance validation, and stability testing on new and existing products.
• Validate new components, configurations, and overclocking profiles to ensure they meet company quality and performance standards.
• Record test methodologies, results, and recommendations in a clear and structured manner.

Research & Continuous Improvement

• Research emerging technologies, components, and manufacturing techniques that could improve product performance, reliability, manufacturability, or cost.
• Evaluate potential design improvements using a methodical, evidence-based approach.
• Identify opportunities to improve existing products and internal engineering processes.

Documentation

• Produce clear technical documentation, test reports, implementation guides, and engineering notes.
• Ensure engineering changes and technical solutions are accurately documented for manufacturing, production, customer support, and future reference.

Supplier & Customer Support

• Assist with technical correspondence relating to supplier enquiries, custom product requests, and component selection.
• Support communication with customers and suppliers by providing accurate technical information and proposed solutions.
• Work with suppliers to investigate technical queries and validate proposed solutions where required.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with Production, Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, Purchasing, and Customer Support to ensure engineering solutions are effectively implemented.
• Support the introduction of new products into production by assisting with validation, documentation, and process improvements.

Project & Time Management

• Manage assigned tasks across multiple projects while maintaining awareness of changing priorities and project deadlines.
• Communicate progress proactively, highlighting risks or delays and proposing practical solutions where appropriate.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Relevant BEng/BSc or equivalent experience
• Strong understanding of server hardware (CPU, memory, storage systems, RAID, power supplies).
• Familiarity with operating systems (Linux, Windows Server) and basic networking concepts.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in an SME or manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of remote management tools (e.g., IPMI, iDRAC, iLO).
• Experience with CAD packages (preferably Solidworks)
• Overclocking experience.
• Experience with circuit board design and/or Arduino sketches.

Pay: £30,000.00-£32,000.00 per year
