Full job description

Assembly Technician and Prototype Engineer
This role, initially flexible between part-time and full-time hours, is intended to support our existing product assembly, development and testing processes, for electrical products including actuators, controllers and electrical accessories (cable harnesses etc). The role is suited to those confident with using their hands, and will include the use of hand tools and small-to-medium size power tools, electrical testing equipment, and soldering. Work experience with all of these processes is not strictly necessary as training will be given, but any relevant experience is likely to count in your favour when comparing candidates, especially if you have used these as part of a hobby (electronic tinkerers please do apply!). The work environment is fairly fast-paced, with regularly changing tasks, and so the role is suited to someone who enjoys challenging themselves, especially if they have an interest in engineering and electronics.

Gimson Robotics, the employer, is a small engineering firm, currently of 4 full time employees. We design and assemble many of our own unique products, as well as constructing bespoke sets of actuators and controllers to meet our customer's many varied automation needs. We're a growing company and this role has the potential to expand and change into the future.

The workplace is a modern workshop unit in Filwood Green Business Park, South Bristol. It is easily accessible by walking, bicycle or bus from most of central and South Bristol. There is no guaranteed parking available and we do encourage active travel (all current staff walk or cycle to work). We would expect applicants to be living within the greater Bristol area. Free lunches are included, and form a social part of the day.

Please email your CV, with a brief covering message explaining why you think you are suited to the role, to the email address supplied. Do make sure to include mention of any electronics/hobby projects that you have been involved in, in the past.
