About Anaphite:

Anaphite develops technologies that accelerate the energy transition by improving battery manufacturing. Our work enables the battery industry to adopt dry electrode coating, producing more sustainable and cost effective Lithium ion batteries. Founded in 2018, we are headquartered in central Bristol.

Summary

We are looking for a skilled senior process engineer to join our growing team. They will be responsible for hands-on operation alongside optimisation and analysis of our small-scale plants while in parallel developing, procuring and commissioning larger plants.

Direct experience with operating, and involvement in maintenance and improvement, of chemical plant at any scale is a must, as is a background with plant design and problem-solving skills. The successful candidate will further develop with the company as it grows, with a wide range of opportunities for personal and professional development.

Responsibilities/Duties

· Operate the pilot plant safely and effectively, supporting the successful delivery of planned equipment runs.

· Act as the technical lead for pilot plant process design, including specifications, calculations, installation, commissioning and ongoing operation.

· Troubleshoot process and equipment issues using a structured, methodical and evidence-based approach.

· Develop and maintain essential safety documentation, including risk assessments and emergency response plans, while providing technical input into HAZOP studies and wider site safety systems.

· Analyse and interpret operational data to identify opportunities for improved product quality, process performance and reliability, and lead the implementation of resulting improvements.

· Proactively collaborate with the Electrode Development and Chemistry teams to resolve technical issues and develop a clear understanding of process parameters and experimental outcomes.

· Work closely with the wider Process Engineering team to share knowledge, best practice, resources and solutions to common challenges.

· Champion and consistently demonstrate safe working practices, helping to maintain a strong and proactive safety culture.

· Apply appropriate quality-control processes to ensure accurate, consistent and reliable pilot plant operation and output.

· Support the planning, organisation and coordination of equipment runs, personnel and other required resources.

Proficiencies/Experience

Essential:

· Degree in Chemical engineering or equivalent relevant professional Qualification.

· Proven track record in process operations and design

· Able to work and problem solve with minimal direction, leading small tasks or projects independently.

· Proficient operation of plant equipment and understanding of necessary parameters and issues

· Able to plan and manage tasks, with an understanding of budget constraints and customer needs.

· Able to work and communicate across disciplines and as part of a team

· Willing and able to do occasional overseas travel.

· Willing to do shift work to support production activities.

Desirable:

· Experience with process operations using slurries, solvents and fine powders

· Proven track record with process scale up and/or production operations.

Salary/Benefits

● Base Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 annually depending on experience.
