Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust (GMMH) is looking for an enthusiastic and forward-thinking Librarian to join our Library and Knowledge Services team.

The main duties of the job are:
Conducting literature searches on a wide range of topics.
Delivering one to one and group training/induction sessions face to face and virtually.
Promoting the Library and Knowledge Service across the Trust footprint, attending relevant team/departmental meetings as required.
Creating current awareness bulletins on mental health topics.
Supporting the Library and Knowledge Service Manager in the management, maintenance and troubleshooting of the library’s e-resources .
Collecting/acting upon feedback and impact to ensure library services are user focused.
Updating and maintaining the library’s website and intranet pages.
Lead on the acquisition and cataloguing of new stock.
Provide cover for the library reception desk when required.

The Library and Knowledge Service is a small, friendly and supportive team passionate about delivering high-quality, user-focused library services. The role provides plenty of opportunity to develop specialist skills in health librarianship and knowledge management.

The successful candidate will be based at The Curve Library at our Prestwich site; there is scope for some home working which can be discussed in line with the Trust’s flexible working policy.

Policy Development

To contribute towards the development of operational systems, policies and procedures within Library and Knowledge Services.
To work in partnership with other departments (including Learning & Development, Medical Education, Research and Innovation and the Psychological Therapies Training Centre (PTTC)) to promote library services and ensure staff and students have access to information they need.
To support the development of policies and strategies within the Trust by delivering evidence-based searches.
To contribute to the maintenance and development of stock policy within Library and Knowledge Services.

Management

Contribute towards the management and maintenance of library management systems.
Lead on the management of physical library collections.
Maintain current and topical resources on all aspects of mental health, social care, wellbeing, psychiatry and substance misuse.
Catalogue and index new Library and Knowledge Service stock in line with current standards.
Manage, update and maintain the Library and Knowledge Service internet and intranet pages.

Key Performance Indicators

To monitor and report on the usage of Library and Knowledge Service resources and services.
Carry out user assessment, impact and satisfaction surveys.
Monitor and deliver on Library and Knowledge Service quality standards.
Contribute towards the delivery of the Quality Improvement Outcomes Framework return.

Communications and Relationships

Represent GMMH Library and Knowledge Services at local, regional and national network events.
Communicate the value of Library and Knowledge Services to members of the wider Trust.
Liaise with suppliers and partners to resolve technical or support issues.
Support the development and implementation of an LKS Marketing Strategy.
Promote the LKS to the wider Trust through promotional activity and attendance at relevant team/departmental meetings.
Consult with relevant departments to develop and maintain the LKS webpage and social media accounts.
To develop, maintain and disseminate current awareness services for clinical and non-clinical staff.

Quality

Work with the Library and Knowledge Service Manager to develop and implement action plans relating to the Quality Improvement Outcomes Framework.
Work with Library and Knowledge Service Manager to collate activity statistics and usage data relevant to the service KPIs and annual statistical returns.
Use surveys and other data collection methods to assess impact and quality of services.
Commitment to delivering Library and Knowledge Services in line with quality standards.

Health, Safety and Security

Ensure that equipment, furniture and work areas are maintained in accordance with Trust policy and procedures.
Ensure that delivery of Library and Knowledge Services comply with regulatory and legal requirements- Copyright, Data protection, Health and Safety.

Service Improvement

Commit to training and development opportunities provided locally, regionally and nationally in order to further develop skills and competencies.
Utilise survey, interview and focus group responses to improve the effectiveness of Library and Knowledge Services.

Equality and Diversity

Contribute to development of equitable resources which are accessible for all staff across the Trust.
Treat everyone equally and with dignity and respect.

Finance

To place requests for stock and non-stock items in line with GMMH procurement protocol.
Oversee the local procedures for payment of article requests, printing and photocopying.

Specialist Skills and Technology

Deliver a comprehensive literature search service to clinical and non-clinical staff.
Support a training programme in information skills for all GMMH staff. This will include delivering one to one and group training sessions, inductions and workshops both face to face and virtually.
Offer specialist advice and guidance on mental health, substance misuse and public health evidence and information.
Produce summaries, alerts and evidence bulletins for a range of Library and Knowledge Service users on a range of relevant topics.
Consult with departments to ensure that GMMH staff and students have the necessary skills and resources to be able to learn, develop and excel.
Support the development of existing Library Management Systems (LMS) to catalogue, issue and monitor the return of Library and Knowledge Service stock.
Support the Library and Knowledge Service Manager in the management, maintenance and troubleshooting of the library’s e-resources.
